Charlotte Bobcats 88- Atlanta Hawks 86
Stephen Jackson posted a game-high 32 points to push the Charlotte Bobcats past the host Atlanta Hawks, 88-86, at Philips Arena on Saturday night. The win was of great importance for the Bobcats as it snapped a seven-game losing streak for Charlotte in Atlanta.
Shaun Livingston scored a season-high 22 points off the bench, while Gerald Wallace finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for Charlotte, who are 14-12 under Coach Paul Silas. Josh Smith scored a team-high 28 points while Al Horford had 16 points and 10
rebounds for the Hawks, who lost their 20th game of the season.
Both teams started ice cold, using 27 possessions apiece in the opening quarter. Atlanta got it going offensively in the second quarter to take a 52-39 lead into the locker room. The Bobcats came to life in the third quarter, as they cut the deficit by nine
points, but the Hawks still managed to take a 68-72 advantage into the final stanza.
Trailing by four-points after three quarters, Charlotte came out strongly in the fourth quarter, as they outscored the Hawks 20-14 to seal the victory at 88-86.
New York Knicks 105 – New Jersey Nets 95
Wilson Chandler scored a team-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as the New York Knicks eased past the New Jersey Nets 105-95, at the Prudential Centre on Saturday night.
Reserve Toney Douglas scored 19 points and rookie Landry Fields had 14 points for the Knicks, who won for just the second time in their last six games. Nets guard Devin Harris contributed a game-high 22 points while Brook Lopez added 19 points in the home
defeat.
Sasha Vujacic chipped in 15 points and guard Jordan Farmar ended with 12 points for the Nets, who lost their 38th game of the 2010-11 season. The Knicks controlled the first quarter, leading by as many as five points on their way to a 27-21 lead
going into the second. New York went ahead by as many as 10 points and carried a 59-54 advantage into half time.
Both teams played more or less same game in the third quarter but the Knicks managed to take a 72-68 lead into the fourth. Back-to-back three-pointers from Chandler and Fields gave the Knicks a 93-89 edge late in the fourth quarter for good.
San Antonio Spurs 118 – Washington Wizards 94
Tony Parker and George Hill each scored 18 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 118-94 win over the Washington Wizards on Saturday night at Verizon Centre.
Gary Neal added 16 points while forward Richard Jefferson ended with 14 points for the sizzling Spurs, who won their 45th game of the 2010-11 season. Cartier Martin and Andray Blatche came off the bench to score 16 points apiece in the home defeat.
Washington coach Flip Saunders was disappointed with his team’s performance. He said, "Words can't totally explain how I feel. Disappointed. Embarrassed."
The Wizards were flat-footed on defence in the opening quarter. However, the Spurs got a nice lift from tony Parker and Jefferson, to take a 37-18 lead into the second. San Antonio extended their defensive play to the second quarter and extended their lead
to 72-45 at half time.
The Spurs were more aggressive all night, outscoring the Wizards 19-6 from the foul line to seal the win.
