NBA award predictions 2010-11
As the upcoming NBA season comes closer, each passing day witnesses various predictions from the experts of the game. Previously we have discussed the Eastern Conference, Western Conference and the contenders for the MVP award. Now let’s take a general look at the NBA and get details about various awards and the contenders for it that have been decided by the experts. Over here we will also discuss the previous winner of the award, and the current favourite to grab it.
The NBA MVP award was won by the Lakers defending champion and leader, Kobe Bryant. In a season which is expected to be dominated by the Heat and Lakers, one would wonder how any other players outside the two teams could end up winning the MVP award. The favourite according to poles to date is Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder. This player is expected to come up with superior statistics for sure and is loved by many for 30 points per game average. According to the experts’ panel, they agree to the fan pole and say that Kevin Durant is one player who at the age of 21 continues his form and is expected to end up with the 2010-11 MVP award. This young talent is likely expected to get competition from Orleans Hornets Chris Paul.
Another player who is unanimously agreed by the experts and voters is that of the Defensive Player of the Year. Dwight Howard is the choice they have decided on, without any doubt. Howard comes up with huge number of rebounds that has led to him being loved by many in the NBA. However, the talented superstar has a tendency to block many shots but cannot perform equally well when it comes to the offense. Experts believe that with a little polishing Howard may well be challenging for the MVP award in the coming season. One player that Dwight should be careful while competing is Josh Smith of Atlanta Hawks.
NBA Coach of the Year for the season 2010-11 according to the votes of the fans is expected to be Scott Brooks of the Oklahoma City Thunder. One of the most successful players, Scott guided the Thunders into the playoffs following a terrible season. Scott is also predicted to bring Oklahoma team in the top 4 positions in the Western Conference. However, experts think that it’s going to be Rick Adelman of the Houston Rockets, who will be winning the award after his team managed to come up with quite a show in the preseason. And with the return of Yao Ming, this certainly seems achievable without a doubt. Mike D’Antoni is one man who is going to make Scott work hard for the award, as the New York Knicks coach is working hard and wants the Knicks to reach new heights.
2010-11 executive of the Year again is an award on which the voters and experts both agree without any arguments. The executive of the year according to them is going to be Pat Riley of the Miami Heat, who has been able to convince high profile players to come into terms with him at sign deals that are at a discount. The experts say that the only way Pat Riley would not win this award will be in case that the Miami Heat comes up with numerous injuries and John Hammond of the Milwaukee Bucks would grab the title.
Last but not the least, the Rookie of the Year award for the upcoming season has many different predictions. According to the voters and fans, John Wall of the Washington Wizards is most likely to win the Rookie of the Year. However, experts are of the view that Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers would be winning the Rookie of the Year, and if in case he isn’t able to grab the title then DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings would be the favourite to come out on top.
