NBA first half analysis: Houston Rockets vs. Boston Celtics
After losing a 90-79 matchup with the Chicago Bulls, the Boston Celtics looked out with an eagle eye towards the Rockets. But edging the game from the start, the Rockets set on a glossy start to greet the Celtics.
First Quarter
The ball was jumped between Jermaine O’Neal and Jordan Hill, when Glen Davis jumped forward to gain possession of the ball for the Celtics. Davis missed the very first jump shot of the game for the Celtics. Shane Battier rebound the ball for the Rockets
and soon after that Hill missed a jump shot. Kyle Lowry gave the Rockets their first two points as he went for a fade away jumper shot from the box. O’Neal clinched a reverse layup shot to score the first two points for the Celtics, tying at 2-all. Aaron Brooks
answered with a running jump shot that he clinched at 9:24 on the clock and Louis Scola committed a shooting foul right after. O’Neal dived in to gain possession of both the free throws provided, tying the scores once again at 4-all.
Rajon Rondo pulled up a jump shot to gain the lead for the Celtics, 6-4. Brooks’ three pointer edged the Rockets to a flaring 11-9 over the Celtics at 7:28 on the clock. Clearing the path, Paul Pierce’s step back jump shot assisted by Ray Allen scored the
scores at 11-all.
End of First Quarter
The Houston Rockets had many a free throws coming their way and they clinched them all the way until the end, going 27-22 over the Celtics by the end of first quarter.
Second Quarter
Chase Budinger made a jump shot at the very beginning of the second quarter, shooting 29-22 over the Celtics. Davis had a layup shot for the Celtics, clinching into the clearing once again. Brooks made a jump shot right after, assisted by Patrick Patterson.
Jared Jeffries committed a shooting foul at 10 minutes in second half that produced two free throws from the Celtics, 25-33. Nate Robinson’s three pointer closed the scores between Celtics and Rockets at 36-35. Hill’s free throw clinched after O’Neal committed
a shooting foul levelling the scores at 36.
Pierce committed another shooting foul at 2 minutes left in second half and Battier grabbed one of the two free throws provided. Allen missed a jump shot that Scola rebound for the Rockets at 1:44 minutes on the clock.
End of first half
Houston Rockets took a one point lead over the Boston Celtics at the end of first half, 50-49.
