NBA preview; Miami Heat trounce the Milwaukee Bucks 101-95
Friday night went in favour of Miami Heat as they thrashed their rivals Milwaukee Bucks by 101-95. Their victories in the season remain outstanding so far; as they won 20 games out of the last 21 played and they seem well motivated to make new records.
Chris Bosh, who plays power forward for Miami, scored 16 points and 12 rebounds in the game. The Miami Heat have proved to be one of the top ranked teams of the season. They have been playing with the finest basketball players, like LeBron James and Chris Bosh.
Chris Bosh added 10 of his 16 points during the fourth quarter and also in the overtime. Similarly LeBron James scored 18 of his 26 points and 10 rebounds till the end of the first half. The victors were leading right from the early moments and it didn’t seem
that the game would be close. Andrew Bogut’s game supported the side well as he made 12 points and 27 rebounds that were the highest in his career, regardless of his 4 of 17 attempts from the field. Douglas Roberts added 30 points in the total off the bench
and was a really fascinating performance.
With the score levelled at 95, Bosh attempted two free throws but on the other side, after losing a 3-pointer by John Salmons, Carlos made a lay-up to take a lead of 97-93. The point guard Dwyane Wade scored 14 points in the sum along with a rebound and two
free hits by Arroyo in the closing 8.9 seconds of the game. Wade, who hit two jumpers, resulted in a foul and later missed a free throw that was tipped by Bosh to reach the score at 89-87. The swapping free throws from Bosh and Bogut kept Heat ahead, 93-91.
Power forward Bosh and Wade failed in the defence when Boykins scored a lay-up with 1.5 seconds to play.
LeBron James also recorded his 500th block in the closing moments of the half game. The final moves of the game were full of action and brilliant attempts from both the teams. The score was tied and the game was extended into overtime. Erick Spoelstra
stated that his side had two days rest before the contest therefore the repeated games with Milwaukee could be compared to a play-off game schedule. He said, “Frustration was quite apparent in the game as the players from both sides were apathetic that was
represented from the benches as well.”
Heat’s coach Erik Spoelstra expressed that although Milwaukee Bucks were lacking their best starters Gooden and Jennings but the Douglas-Roberts pair played impressively. The 40-year-old coach was also surprised from Douglas-Roberts’ 30 points for the Milwaukee
in the game. When Erik Spoelstra was being nominated as a head coach for the Heat, Riley articulated that he was born to coach and now the game will be led by such young coaches who have innovative ideas.
Erik Spoelstra has been coaching Miami Heat since 2008 and is unique among NBA coaches because his entire head coaching career has been spent only with Miami Heat. During the first two years of his coaching, this coach won 90 games. Now the team is unstoppable
under his directions and innovations; the reason why the side has been showing top performance in the season.
It is to be noted the Miami Heat had been defeated in their last two matches against Dallas in the months of November and December, 2010. In the current schedule, Miami won’t play any more games against the Bucks till April, 2011.
