NBA stars all set to dazzle in EBC-Goodman charity game – Basketball News
The Entertainers Basketball Classic is set to put out a star team comprising of NBA players to face off against the best, the Goodman League has to offer. The game is scheduled for September 30th and the expectations
are already high after it was revealed that many different NBA players will be displaying their skills during the game.
The New York based EBC first thought of making a team entirely out of New Yorkers, but now others have also been invited to the roster. Players such as Metta World Peace, formerly Ron Artest of the Los Angeles Lakers and Joakim
Noah of the Chicago Bulls will be featuring in the frontcourt for EBC. Dallas Mavericks centre Corey Brewer will also be available while rookie point guard Kemba Walker is expected to be the ball handler in charge.
The EBC is also courting Milwaukee Bucks star Brandon Jennings as well as Detroit Pistons guard Ben Gordon.
The biggest name linked with the game, however, is Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant has played once before for EBC and chief executive officer and founder Greg Marius is hopeful he can lure out the legendary shooting
guard for another run.
"He would make a great addition to our league".
Marius added that it was great; so many stars had shown a willingness to come forward in the name of charity,
"Everybody is definitely excited about this game," Marius said. "It's a lot of star power and it's for charity for both of the leagues. Both of us depend on sponsorship dollars and want to be able to create some other revenues
and this is (a) great avenue with the lockout and players are willing to lend their support."
The Goodman team also has some aces up its sleeve. They have the two-time reigning NBA scoring Champion Kevin Durant. Durant, who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder and led his side to the Western Conference Finals this year,
has been tearing up the pro-am circuit all summer long and with Kobe in the opposition, he is sure to take his game to the nest level.
Joining him on the Goodman roster will be Michael Beasley, the talented Minnesota Timberwolves forward, Sacramento Kings forward Donte Greene, Wizards guard Josh Howard and Memphis Grizzlies guard Josh Selby.
Kings star DeMarcus Cousins; Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green and Taj Gibson of the Chicago Bulls are also set to feature in the game, most likely for the Goodman team.
