Ok so the games three best players Kobe LeBron and Wade have all said for about 40 to 50 million dollars a year in Europe that they'd go to Europe for sure. My thing is they have all said that any reasonable person wouldn't turn down that kind of money. But I can tell them the most important reason to turn it down. You can't win an NBA championship in Europe. These guys already have enough money do they really need more or do you think they should try and stay in the NBA and win championships in the U.S?

  1. so are they just playing basketball for the money? and not the love of the game? wow they disappointed me.

  2. Expand the sport of Basket ball to a world level. Thye should leave! Be a true Basketball Pioneer!

  3. Not even the best soccer players in Europe make $50 million a year.

  4. NBA championships don't mean as much to players as they say. They only say that because they're currently employed to achieve that very goal. Josh Childress summed it up best in his interview with PTI. Something was mentioned to him by Tony Kornheiser about not being able to win an NBA championship in Europe. His reply was "I have a different goal now: That's winning the Euroleague championship".

  5. You're right, they don't need any more money. Money can't buy a world championship.

  6. It shows how greedy they are and they only care about making money, so from know on when you hear a basketball player say that they want to win a champion chip he's ling they care all about the money.

  7. Most of what these guys are saying is to strong-arm the NBA into dropping the salary cap. The money the athletes would lose in endorsement deals for going to Europe would probably more than cancel out the added money in salary. You are right: star players don't want to play in an inferior league overseas and don't want to copy second stringers like Childress, who didn't even start for the Hawks. They are rattling the cage and are pretend threatening to cripple the league if Stern doesn't find a way to get them paid.

The one exception may be Kobe, who may be looking to run away after finally realizing that he will never be able to lead a team to an NBA championship in this era, which is much stronger than Jordan's era. Shaq was the Finals MVP for all three runs. It really is tearing Kobe up inside to know that Shaq was right.

  8. Come on now, loyalty or money, ah i don't know, MONEY. I dont think its even possible, in the free agency era of sports, to have loyalty to anything other than money. The players of old, where loyalty meant something, is a thing of the past.

  9. if they were offered, theyll go.  they dont care for the rings as much as money.  if they really cared, then why are they going for max contracts?  why not take a big paycut and bring it a lot more talent so the team would have a better chance at a ring?
