NBA’s recent best performances, 15 February
Among the six clashes that took place on Monday, 15 February, a total of 12 teams confronted each other on various courts around the country. Some of the teams and players dominated the others in the wins and some shined even in the loss.
Wallace in his steamy 20, 11
Los Angeles Lakers lost second-straight game on the road against the Charlotte Bobcats who are always ready to give the Lakers a hard time. Gerald Wallace had a steamy performance in the clash. The forward made a comeback to his previous season’s all-star
form and clinched 20 points along with 11 rebounds for the winning team. He was dominant throughout with a 9-for-16 shooting from the field. The player has acquired an average of 19.4 points and 11.6 rebounds during the previous five games and had his fifth
double-double of the last eight games.
Duncan’s double-double
San Antonio Spurs were awesome as they have been throughout the season. The Spurs limited the New Jersey Nets to a lowly 102-85 loss as they headed past them. Tim Duncan had an edgy performance as the player scored a double-double by clinching 15 points
and grabbed 11 rebounds in a duration of 26 minutes in the win. The Spurs forward also added three steals to make the impact even stronger.
Smith’s assault over the Pistons
The Hawks fluttered past the Detroit Pistons taking a 94-79 flight over them. Josh Smith has been putting a deadly assault on the Pistons in all the three matchups the Hawks had with them this season. The Atlanta Hawks forward scored 27 points and grabbed
14 rebounds as he excelled an 11-of-17 shooting from the field. The player has accomplished an average of 25 points and 9.7 rebounds in the clashes against them. Not only the Pistons but all the other teams are under his spell since the previous four games.
Brockman filling up for Ilyasova
Clippers could not stand the defence shield held up by the Milwaukee Bucks en route a 102-78 win over them. Jon Brockman made a big entry as the little-used Bucks forward replaced Ersan Ilyasova in the starting two minutes. He seized 11 points going 3-of-3
from the field along with a remarkable shooting 5-of-6 from the foul line.
Kevin Love in his 50th double-double of the season
Portland Trail Blazers grilled a 95-81 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in a tenacious 95-81 win. Love, the rebounding machine notched his 50th double-double of the season as the ace posted 12 points and pulled out 11 boards going 6-of-7 from
the foul line in the loss. The only other player to set this record before was George Mikan.
The player later said, "I did feel like they were coming at me. A lot of the time they were hitting rebounds out when they saw I could get a hand on it. But it wasn't an advantage or disadvantage."
Rockets in their long range shooting
Denver Nuggets could not take a stand against the Houston Rockets who fled past them in a 121-102 victory. The Rockets were flaring from the 3-point range. They shot 14 out of 32 three-pointers and sealed a 43.8 per cent shooting in the victory while limiting
the opposition to just 25 per cent from the same.
