NBC’s Johnny Miller not impressed with Tiger Woods struggling form ahead of US Open
NBC’s formidable Johnny Miller came up with his opinion over this year’s second major event, the US Open scheduled at the scenic Olympic Golf Club, a venue Miller has played over all his life.
Considered as an authority over the course from various aspects, Miller was asked about his foreword regarding Tiger Woods’ anticipated performance and his chances of winning the event, keeping in view his current form.
Winner of the US Open in 1973 himself, Miller has a keen eye on the stellar event on the USGA and believes Woods’ has a bright chance of landing the title for the fourth time.
He said, “He knows Olympic Club, and it wouldn’t surprise me, if he can somehow get his game together. It fell apart at the Masters after winning Bay Hill, which was a shock to me. You could never say nerves ever had anything to do with anything his whole
career, and all of a sudden at the Masters, he fell apart because of nerves, first time in his career”.
For the moment, Miller has little to say over Woods’ current form as many of the golf critics are baffled by his consecutive losses both at the Masters and the Players Championship.
The former world number one broke his winless streak last month when he went over to land the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour.
Bolstered by the victory, Woods stepped on the Augusta National with a rejuvenated hope of winning the title for the fifth time in his incomparable career.
He finished for a joint 40th-his lowest finish in the Masters ever.
He started off his bid to win the ever-elusive Players Championship where he has won only once in his 14 attempts. He again finished for his lowest on the TPC Sawgrass-a joint 40th.
Miller added, “I don’t know what to think of Tiger Woods at the Open. I don’t know if that was something where he’ll learn from Augusta”.
The US Open is scheduled in three weeks time at the revered Olympic Golf Club where the giants of the sport will wrestle their way up the leaderboard.
