NBL Updates - New Jersey Nets versus Denver Nuggets
This Saturday on the 20th November 2010, the Denver Nuggets faced the New Jersey Nets at their home ground. The venue for the match was Pepsi Centre, Co. 16,396 fans turned up at the Pepsi centre to see their favourite teams confronting each other.
The match lasted for about two hours and 18 minutes during which the huge audience had their eyes glued to the stadium. Eventually the Denver Nuggets, which had dominated the match mostly, won the battle with 107-103.
During the first quarter, Denver Nuggets ruled at the start but the other side was able to catch up eventually. New Jersey was initially struggling, desperately making efforts to compete with their counterparts but it looked as if they would be unable to
make it. Though they did lose the first quarter they brought it quite close to a 28-25. This was because of their continuous efforts and unwillingness to give up.
The New Jersey’s after losing the first quarter looked bent on winning the second. They displayed some excellent moves and brought some marvellous competition in the game. The Denver nuggets had to play better which they did and again won this quarter too
with a 31-29. As the scores suggest the two teams were neck to neck but with the Nugget’s superb defence they managed to ace this one too.
Moving on to the third, which again was a tough round with both teams playing fiercely against each other and ending it with a 21-24.
As the game progressed into its fourth quarter the match looked pretty much one sided with the previous all quarters won by the home team but the New Jersey team gave its fans a time of little delight as they won this quarter with a 24-28. They displayed
exceptional skills in defence and attack.
Carmelo Anthony with 28 baskets was the leading scorer from the Nugget’s and Brook Lopez from the Jerseys with 20. Derrick Favors and Jordan Farmar scored 14 points each; in total they were seven players with double figures. Anthony’s two shots in the end
sealed his team’s victory, closing the game with a 107-103. The unstoppable scorer Chauncey Billups suffered a terrible injury to his nose while scoring here.
This game, with 6 lead changes and 2 ties, served as great entertainment for the audience, which were primarily Denver Nugget’s fans as it was their home ground. Thus the crowd was satisfied by Denver’s brilliant performance.
