NBP honours Pakistani cueist Muhammad Sajjad
Pakistan’s premier cueist Mohammad Sajjad has been heralded by the National Bank of Pakistan for a plethora of brilliant performances in the recent past. After his stellar performances in the recently concluded Korat Cup in Thailand where he reached the
final of the tournament, the NBP has rewarded Sajjad for his astounding achievements in the year 2010 with a cash award worth Rs. 75,000.
A spokesman of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association said, “If Sajjad continues the performances that he has bagged, Sajjad can surely win the gold medal at the Asian Games in China.” Other members of the PBSA thanked the NBP for the cash awards
as it is expected to boost the player’s morale and motivate him to win a lot more.
Muhammad Sajjad is truly one of the premier snooker players in Pakistan. This extravagant cueist is ranked at the 2nd spot amongst Asian snooker players.
One of the most commendable performances of this talented Pakistani snooker player came during the recent concluded Korat Cup in Thailand. This player was able to end a four year title draught for Pakistan when he defeated some of the top Asian players to
emerge as the Korat Cup Champion. Consequently, Mohammad Sajjad has lept over all Pakistani cueists' to become the National Champion and the best snooker player that the country has.
After his win, former World Champion Muhammad Yousuf said, “Although I couldn’t achieve what I had dreamt. But Muhammad Sajjad does without any doubt possess the talent and skill that is needed to win at the big stage and fulfil all that he dreams.” Further
adding to this, Muhammad Yousuf believed that Muhammad Sajjad needed to polish his game which he would be more than willing to do.
Progressing slowly from a country where snooker is considered to be a pass time, Sajjad is at the twilight of his career. The player learnt from his mistakes in the last few years, which can be seen from the fact that Sajjad suffered two defeats before he
went on to win the Korat Cup after Barry Hawkins and U-21 champion Ricky Walden had defeated him.
Sajjad, with a solid determination to win, learned from his mistakes which resulted in him producing magical performances in front of a Thai crowd that had no choice but to applaud to the brilliance of the Pakistani player.
This talented player went on to win the Korat Cup this August that meant Pakistan finally won a trophy in snooker after ages. The last time Pakistan won in international snooker was four years ago when Muhammad Yousuf clinched a title in Jordan. Sajjad himself
said, “Muhammad Yousuf is without a doubt one of the greatest snooker players of Pakistan, but I will be trying to move ahead of him.” The determination that this player is showing is without a doubt one of the key to successes that he has recently come across.
Sajjad is working hard and eyeing another title during the course of the next few months. Pakistan’s top snooker player and Asian number two is now looking to win the amateur World Cup which Yousuf won in 1994. Yousuf also won the Asian Championship in 1998
and most recently won the Worlds Masters Champions in 2006 after defeating Glen Wilkinson from Australia. Sajjad is in a good position to beat his record and with the determination that he has, Sajjad can surely achieve a lot more than expected.
