Question:

NC driver license question?

I've been home schooled all my life, but in a few days I'm transferring to a private school.

I think I will be a grade or two behind of what I am in home school, because I have a learning disability.

My brother told me I have to be in 10th grade and be a passing grade or I can't get my permit/license but I'm over 16.

Is this true? or can I just be in any grade as long as I am over 16 and am at a passing grade?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think you have to be in the 10th grade, but you will have to provide proof of age.

Some of my son's friends had failed their grades and I heard him mention a couple of guys that were in like 9th grade, but were driving to school.

I wouldn't think different counties have different rules.  I would think that NC guidelines would be the same statewide as far as permits/licenses are concerned.

I do know that in our county however, if a student is failing their courses, their license can be taken away.  I'm not sure if that is enforced per county or statewide though.

If you just give your local DMV a call, they'll be able to answer any questions you might have and also be able to point you in the right direction should you need to speak with someone else.

    Good Luck!
