what handicap or average for a par 70 course should someone have to get into a division 1 college?

  1. You have to be scratch for pretty much every DI school, and honestly, you better be playing AJGA or IJGT and USGA events to get noticed.  I would say that in high school, most future DI players averaged anywhere from -4 to E, depending on the course.  Handicaps are easier to configure because they take the difficulty of the course into consideration.  Good Luck


  2. Look at the players who attended Division 1 NCAA schools who are presently on tour and determine what they are doing. The ones who play Div 1 are mostly plus handicaps. In other words they are sub par shooters. This is the caliber of the competition and if one does not shoot consistently under par, the chances of making a Div.1 School team are slim to none.
