NCAA rules Royce White ineligible

Iowa State Cyclones forward Royce White has been ruled ineligible to play by the NCAA.  White, who signed on to play with the Minnesota Golden Gophers last season but did not play a game, was suspended from the Golden Gophers for an incident at the
Mall of America.

White ended up pleading guilty in February for disorderly conduct and theft and left the University of Minnesota.

The 6ft 8in forward just wants to play basketball and it is clear he has potential.

"I am disappointed with the decision," White said to espn.go.com.  "I am extremely happy with my decision to be a member of the Iowa State basketball team.  It's my goal now to help this team any way I can
during this season and prepare myself to be contributor on next year's team."

White transferred to Iowa State in July hoping to bypass NCAA regulations that transfers must sit out their first full season.

"We had a long talk with Royce and he is disappointed," Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg said in a release according to espn.go.com. "He is fully on board on being a Cyclone.  He's excited about how the team
is playing and he is going to continue to take pride in his role as a member of our scout team."

So far this season, the Cyclones are 5-0 with victories over Northern Arizona, Alabama State, Drake, Creighton and Kennesaw State.  They are also averaging 85 points per game which is good enough for 22nd
in the nation.  The Cyclones also sit at 15th in the nation in assists but could use some work on their rebounding as they rank in the middle of the pack.

Currently, Iowa State sits atop the Big 12 conference but there are four teams who still remain undefeated.

The Cyclones play against Montana State on Saturday 27 November and then against Northern Iowa on 1 December.
