NCAA week two predictions
Thursday
Auburn at Mississippi State
Cameron Newton was impressive in Auburn's season opener against Arkansas State, tossing three touchdowns and running for two. A similar performance will be witnessed in Starkville.
Auburn 31, Mississippi State 17
Friday
West Virginia at Marshall
The Mountaineers travel to Huntington to take on their rivals in a battle that will end quickly. West Virginia has a solid defence this season. Combine that with a solid quarterback and Noel Devine running the ball, and you have got a blow-out.
West Virginia 44, Marshall 24
Saturday
Wisconsin at San Diego State
The Badgers opened up their season with a quality win over UNLV. John Clay ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Clay and Montee Ball will get a lot of carries in this one. Wisconsin will be too much for the Spartans.
Wisconsin 38, San Diego State 10
Georgia at South Carolina
South Carolina jumped into the Top 25 after defeating Southern Mississippi. Were the Gamecocks really that impressive? They face a tough conference game at home against the Bulldogs. Georgia looked good in week one, but is star WR A.J. Green going to play? Under investigation for selling one of his jerseys, word on his availability has not been received. Stephen Garcia has a solid game and USC wins.
South Carolina 24, Georgia 17
Georgia Tech at Kansas
Kansas lost 6-3 to North Dakota State last week in a shocker. Yes, North Dakota State.
Georgia Tech 54, Kansas 10
South Florida at Florida
John Brantley and the Gators looked anything but impressive in their win over Miami (Ohio). South Florida and B.J. Daniels will provide quite the test. Gators just get by.
Florida 31, South Florida 24
Idaho at Nebraska
Taylor Martinez looked great for Nebraska in week one. Their defence is also stellar. Martinez could toss four interceptions and the Cornhuskers would still win.
Nebraska 42, Idaho 16
James Madison at Virginia Tech
Losing to Boise State was a tough one for the Hokies. Up with just under two minutes to go, the Hokies just couldn't hold on. The frustration from the Monday night thriller will be worked out on Saturday. Ryan Williams runs wild.
Virginia Tech 59, James Madison 6
Florida State and Oklahoma
One of the most intriguing games of the second week, Oklahoma will look to show what they have after failing to do so versus Utah State. Many think Florida State has a chance to be special this season. Oklahoma ends that.
Oklahoma 31, Florida State 21
Miami at Ohio State
The most anticipated game of week two will take place in Columbus. Jacory Harris takes on Terrell Pryor. One is a candidate for the Heisman, the other is an overrated QB who lacks physical tools. The better team and the better QB wins.
Ohio State 35, Miami 20
Wyoming at Texas
Texas, who took care of Rice last week, will try to handle the boys from Wyoming. That shouldn't be a problem. Tre' Newton will continue to find the endzone.
Texas 35, Wyoming 13
Penn State at Alabama
The Crimson Tide will be without Mark Ingram once again. Joe Paterno will have his guys read to roll in Alabama. Too bad for Joe Pa that he has to start a true freshman at QB. Alabama is just too much offensively and defensively.
Alabama 31, Penn State 9
Arkansas at Louisiana-Monroe
Ryan Mallet cements his Heisman campaign with five touchdowns and a drilling of LMU.
Arkansas 54, Louisiana-Monroe 16
Oregon at Tennessee
The Ducks looked brilliant in their 72-0 win over New Mexico. The Vols are better than New Mexico, but not much better. With all the turnover in Knoxville over the last two seasons, UT still needs time to return to their form.
Oregon 42, Tennessee 21
Virginia at USC
USC, who cannot participate in a bowl this season due to NCAA sanctions, are still looking to take home the Pac-10 title. The offence looks great, the defence does not. It wont matter against the Cavaliers.
USC 49, Virginia 13
Michigan at Notre Dame
In a big season for both teams; both squads looked good in week one. Dayne Crist managed the game well against Purdue last week. He will have to do it again to keep the ball out of UM's Denard Robinson's hands. The QB ran for almost 200 yards last week. He won't repeat the performance this week.
Notre Dame 24, Michigan 21
