What do you think about them?

I just heard they had a death on their cruise and they are trying to cover it up. A woman who they say tried to clime from balcony to balcony fell overboard. The cruise line won't say anymore but the family thinks she was pushed over board.

  1. I have cruised with them many times and had a great cruise. The woman who feel over board sounds like the couple last year who fell off another line, they were drunk and decide to dance on the rail of the balcony. Sometimes people do strange things when they drink. Sad but, not any cruise line fault. I would sail with NCL. Great ships, food, service & crew.

Everyone has different tastes & expectations.

  2. We took 1 trip with them and they were the worst.

BTW,  there is nothing free about freestyle cruising!

They deliver room service and have their hand out,..you tip them and then they add another tip on the bill.. SHADY!

Our shower wasn't even cleaned...the soap was still in there from the last guest..uuuugggggg ouuuuwwwuu.

Food there was a horror. It was all pre-packaged and cheap cuts. The deserts are all just sponge cakes made by Cisco and then they dribble choco syrup to make it look good. Was like eating deserts at the chineese food buffet!! Not only that but the food areas were filthy and there was an outbreak on the ship of something bacteria that got 1/2 the ship sick and stuck in their rooms vomiting.

When we got back to port in NYC I expected to see news people there but I think the PR  people kept it on the down low and I never heard a thing in the news. It was then that I saw how this liner works and have no desire to persue another mishap with them. They are shady and I wouldn't expect anything better then what they'll do to this family. They will take no responsibility for this and if the family is lucky they may offer them a 20 dollar ship board cridit for their next voyage!  YEEEEEAAAAAHHH!!!! Just what they always wanted.

  3. I have been on about 8 NCL cruises and actually my first 5 cruises were NCL and it WAS my favorite cruise line.  But about the time they started that "freestyle" cruising is when I put them way down on my list of lines I would go on again.

Some people love NCL because of its freestyle.  I hate it because of the freestyle because we had bad experiences with that.  Things like going to dinner and having to stand in a line to wait for a table.  Then after we asked for a table for two they want to put you at a table with a bunch of strangers.  Would you go into a restaurant at home and asked to be seated at a table with people you don't know every time you go.  Its different from having an assigned table where you meet the people and then the rest of the cruise they are not strangers.  On the last cruise we were on the line was so long on some days that they were handing out buzzers to notify you when a table was ready.  Then on NCL you get a different table and waiter each day.  So you never really get to know your wait staff, and they don't know you by name as they do on other cruise lines.  And then when you pay gratuities they don't go to the people who waited on you, they go into  a pot of money that is divided by the wait staff after the cruise. So the wait staff has little incentive to provide good service.  I think that is the major concern of people who complain about NCL.

I also think that NCL is milking its passengers with those specialty restaurants that have a fee of up to $20 a person to eat.

On our last NCL cruise we had some other service issues that were inexcusable.  So I will never go on another NCL cruise.

  4. NCL is a rock-bottom cruise in terms of quality, from what I've read on the CruiseCritic boards, although they certainly have their fans.

Accidents can happen anywhere.  One like that most likely involved too much alcohol.  Do you refuse to ride in cars because so many people die in car crashes?  Or refuse to go outside because you might get hit by lightning?  The cruise line wouldn't say anything for legal reasons.

  5. It's the woman's fault for trying to climb from balcony to balcony.  My friend is actually on that same cruise right now.  It was on the news, and I haven't heard anything that would make me think they're covering up what happened.  She fell off somewhere along Atlantic City, and they've been searching for her.  The FBI was heading over to get onto the cruise and see if there was any foul play.  I think these types of tragedies can happen on any cruise line.

  6. Wear a lifevest 24/7.

  7. That's b.s.  It's amazing what people will believe.

The surveillance cameras on ship caught the whole thing.  She was alone at the time she went over.

"The line issued a statement late Wednesday saying surveillance cameras on the inside and the outside of the ship caught the entire sequence of events leading up to and following the deadly fall of Mindy Jordan, 46, of Pine Hill, N.J., and the line offered a minute-by-minute synopsis of what occurred.
