NEC Nijmegen’s Alex Pastoor disillusioned with the 1-2 loss against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NAC-Breda-c39983 – Eredivisie news
NEC Nijmegen suffered their second defeat of the season when NAC Breda stunned them 2-1 at McDOS Goffertstadion on Friday, September 16. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018 head coach, has been left shocked following his side’s poor performance in front of an almost capacity
home crowd.
The home side started the match aggressively and their attacking approach gave them instant rewards. They went ahead in just the second minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bram-Nuytinck-c7973 found the back of the net after Ryan Koolwijk’s corner found him in the box.
Moments later, NEC had the chance to double their lead when Remy Amieux’s cross from the left flank found Navarone Foor. However, Foor’s effort went wide of the target and the chance went begging.
Although the hosts pressed hard on the visitors’ back-line in the rest of the opening half action, they still failed to extend their lead. At the half-time interval, the home side were leading the match 1-0.
The Yellow Army came out as a stronger unit in the second-half and tried to level the score-line. In the 64th minute, the visitors found the equaliser they were looking for when Alex Schalk fired one into the back of the net. Three minutes later,
the visitors scored their second of the evening through Omer Bayram.
The hosts tried hard to level the score-line in the remaining 23 minutes of play. However, they failed to hit the target. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score-line read 1-2 in favour of NAC.
Pastoor expressed his anger and revealed that his side started the match impressively but their dominance on the pitch faded away as the match progressed.
“We were fantastic at the start. We created some chances to further dent NEC, but we failed to convert those opportunities. In the second-half, we played poorly. We played with two minds that whether to sit back and defend or move forward. NAC were decisive,
played impressive counter attacking football and scored twice”, Pastoor was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
