http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018 Nijmegen prolific striker, Bjorn Vleminckx, was ecstatic to score four goals in their 5-0 triumph against Roda JC Kerkrade at the McDOS Goffertstadion on Sunday, May 1. The 25-year-old striker performed last time for NEC in front of the home crowd in
style, as he ripped apart the visitors’ back-line and scored four times and helped his side secure all three points.
Vleminckx said, “It was my first time I scored four times in a match. This season I had already made three hat-tricks, but this is very special. I am not a striker who can only be happy while scoring. Take the match against VVV. I did not score, but two
assists were important.”
The prolific striker has become the Eredivisie leading goal-scorer, taking his tally to 23 goals this season. Vleminckx recently signed a contract with his native Belgian club, Club Brugge KV, starting from June 2011. Reports suggest that the Belgian club
paid 3.3 million Euros transfer fee to NEC to acquire services of the prolific striker.
The 25-year-old striker has scored 45 goals in 80 appearances in all competitions for NEC since his arrival at the McDOS Goffertstadion in 2009-10 season. The 25-year-old Belgian striker has become the first player for NEC to score more than 20 times in
a season.
The Belgian international was very emotional while stating about leaving the club at the end of the season. He admitted that he would surely miss his team-mates.
Vleminckx said, “We have a great group and there are many people I will miss. In this respect I can mention many names, but if I have to pick one out, then it will be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-de-Gier-c17453. I am really going to miss him.”
NEC are currently placed 11th in the league table. Despite their 13th place finish in the Eredivisie table last term, they have a good chance to finish in the top ten Dutch sides this season.
The outfit from Nijmegen will play their last encounter of their 2010-11 campaign against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam at the Feijenoord Stadion on Sunday, May 15. Vleminckx will be looking to find the back of the net and add more to his tally.
