The former SBV Excelsior coach has expressed confidence that his side has a good chance of participating in Europa League play-offs come the end of the 2011/12 season.
NEC Nijmegen head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Pastoor, was pleased with his side’s performance in the 2-0 win over De Graafschap at McDOS Goffertstadion on Sunday, April 1.
The 45-year-old tactician has expressed confidence in his side’s ability to finish in the top eight Eredivisie sides and participate in the Europa League play-offs at the end of the season.
The Nijmegen outfit is currently eighth on the league table – last spot for Europa League play-offs. With six matches left to play in the season, they have a bright chance of finishing in the top eight.

“We are now in a good position, and will participate in the play-offs at the end of the season if we manage to hold on to our spot. However, there are six more games yet to play, and anything can happen”, Pastoor was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
Commenting on his side’s 2-0 win over the relegation threatened outfit, the former SBV Excelsior coach insisted that his side staged a scintillating show and deservingly bagged all three points.
“The first-half was impressive. We took the lead early through Lasse. But after that, we lost grip on the match. After the half-time interval, we played well though we could have created more opportunities. Nonetheless, I am particularly pleased with the
result”, Pastoor concluded.
NEC asserted their authority right from the kick-off and scored an early goal through Lasse Schone in the 12th minute. The home side managed to a create few openings in the remaining action of the opening half but failed to find the net.
However, Genero Zeefuik’s strike in the 58th minute put the match to bed, as NEC cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win at the end.
