The former SBV Excelsior coach was disappointed with the 2-1 loss against the Eindhoven giants and admitted that they opted to defend deep after taking the lead which was not the right tactic.

After taking the lead, the Nijmegen outfit sat deep inside their own half and PSV took full advantage of the Nijmegen outfit’s poor tactic.
Pastoor admitted that his side did not defend properly, but were fortunate to head into the dressing room at the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.
“We deliberately opted to defend deep and allow PSV the initiative. They evidently struggled with that tactic. We did not always act well defensively, but we still managed to head into the dressing-room with a 1-0 lead”, the 45-year-old tactician was quoted
as saying to the Dutch media.
After the half-time break, both sides created plenty of goalscoring opportunities. However, it was the Eindhoven giants who benefited the most from their chances.

PSV put the match to bed in the 88th minute when Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink found the bottom left corner of the net to claim a 2-1 win and with it, all three points.
Pastoor was disappointed with the result, and insisted that his side’s missed opportunities cost them three crucial points.
“We failed to convert the chances we got to double our lead, though. We were then a bit unfortunate with the goals we conceded, thus throwing away our lead”, Pastoor concluded.
