NEED 2 Know for the next time this happpens....?

My dog jazz and i were out on a late nite walk..needless to say a pooooor cat was just hit moments befopre we came upon the scene!!!!! I have no idea who to call in a case like this for this pooor cat!! its someones pet!!! I even stopped to ask a "kid" (20 ish) to call ....someone, but he was too drunk to even think or maybe shocked to as the poor animal struggled on the road ,cars wizzin by...so here in LONDON ONT. I have no idea who to call as the number on arf site is the wrong number for animal rescue!!..and i called it at 3am when we got home from this horrific event!! Does anyone know who to call next time ??!!! I'm sure it will happen again and i want to be able to do something NEXT TIME!! thanks for any responses to this ..someone's pet will thank u one day .....:-0

Call the police, they will come to the scene, and if not, they will contact the proper animal rescue to get there.  Usually they are responsible though for coming out and checking things out and at least getting the animal out of the road.  

If the animal had a tag on it you could've checked the tag and seen if there was a number on it, BUT with a hurt animal, that's VERY dangerous and it's better left to the professionals.  Next time, call the police and tell them where you are and what you found and see if they want you stay there until they come.  If they say they aren't coming, ask who would be the next animal rescue, etc.

If you have animal control, they would be the next number to call.  That's who we call in the US when there's an emergency that the police don't respond to.  Check your local numbers for Animal Control and Humane Societies and get those numbers.  You can even call them now and make sure they are the ones you would call.

I'm sorry you had to see such a sight.  That really stinks that the person that did it didn't stop.  I hope some of these leads work out!
