I just got my hamster 3 days ago and he is showing signs of Wet Tail. I played with him as soon as I got home... which I now know that was not the best thing to do. My hamster is a male. His name is Cookie. He has greasy/wet fur on his bottom. He eats and drinks fine. He doesn't have any diarrhea. He and my other female hamster got in a fight last night, and most of her attacks were towards his bottom. I'm not allowed have baby hamsters so Im trading cookie for 2 female hamsters at the pet store. Should I put the new hamsters in the cage with Gizmo, my hopefully uninfected female hamster? Or should I wait to get new hamsters? HELP!!!

  1. My hamster had wet tail. Take him to the vet asap. You should put him in a cage by himself so the other hamsters do not get it. Just stay calm

  2. wait and get new hamsters why put other hamsters in danger

  3. If he eats and drinks fine and has no diarrhea it doesn't sound like wet tail. Is he still active and moving around normally? If so, I'd rule it out.

I don't really understand what you're talking about when it comes to your hamster situation. What kind of hamsters are they? If they are any of the "bear" named hamsters they cannot be housed together and your next batch will fight the same way these 2 did. Why did you have a male and female together, anyway..?  If they are dwarfs there is still a chance they will fight, but it may be alright.

.. I don't think your hamster has wet tail, but without examining him I cannot be sure. You should take him to a vet if you are still unsure about it, and hold off on the new ones.
