  1. This is a very risky deal. There are just too many ways for it to go wrong. Why are you even considering it? Was the price too good to be true? Why not find a similar car closer to you, maybe pay a little higher price, and be assured you aren't going to be cheated? Personally, I would prefer to pay a few extra dollars as insurance against losing many more dollars.

  2. It could be a scam.  I'm sure the UK has something similar to an escrow account where you make payment to the escrow company, he sends the title to the escrow company, you inspect the car when it arrives and the shipping company releases the car to you when it receives authorization from the escrow company.  Its the only safe way to handle a transaction with someone you never meet.  You get the car and the seller gets the all the money at the same time.  If you can't find a service like this, don't pursue the deal.

  3. It's hard to say.  Just trust your gut.  If it FEELS wrong, it most likely is.

  4. Scam don't do it!!!!

  5. This indeed has all the signs of a possible scam written all over it. If the seller was serious, he would allow for an escrow transaction. That is when you put the amount you are asked to pay in the bank and you sign the release form for the merchandise when you are satisfied everything is ok when it has arrived. With a signed release form, the seller can get his money.

This turning around an amount for insurance is the carrot that is dangling in front of you. I would say thanks, but no thanks.

    Whatever you do, be careful.

  6. It might be genuine but there is a thriving market in the UK for left hand drive vehicles, so unless it is a lemon the seller would usually have no difficulty moving it here.  If it is a lemon, you don't want it.
