I had to get your attention! I have three mice, that normally get their cage really messy (p**p every where). We went away for three days, and came back and the cage was spotless. The lady who looked after them said that she didn't clean them or anything. Does anyone know why?

  1. She could just be joking in order to surprise you or

she didn't feed any of your hamsters

  2. Maybe someone else stopped by and did it.

    Or the mice ate it!

Have you checked under the bedding?

They may have pushed it under

  3. did she feed them?  If nothing is going in. nothing is going to come out.

  4. If your animals weren't fed, then they weren't producing the waste. Though, if they look as though they're in good condition and don't seem starved in any way, then perhaps it was simply the change in the person handling/messing with them.

If they do seem a bit off and voraciously hungry, I'd be worried. However the cleanliness shouldn't be a problem. If anything, be glad about it. :D Rodents sometimes are picky pottiers when it comes to where in the cage so if there was any waste at all in the cage, check and see if it's all in one select area. If so, that's why.

  5. Definitely strange!  Maybe she was just being nice and actually did clean it for you...  Or it is hidden under the bedding?  I've heard that mice sometimes eat it, but I doubt they would eat ALL of it...

  6. ask the person how much they fed them. she didn't lean the cage at all... that's strange but as long as they aren't acting weird i wouldn't worry about it.

  7. The lady that took care of them probably wasn't feeding them very much. Even so, animals need to rid their waste. Maybe there's one or two little pellets, but you just can't see them. I think the reason there wasn't enough to see in all three of them is because that lady definitely didn't feed them near enough. If I were you I wouldn't let her take care of them again. If they are producing waste now that you're home, they are fine.
