  1. u can work extra hrs....go t o the funeral .....u dont care?? u said he was gd friend sooo go geez  u would want ur friends to go to ur right???

  2. Explain the situation to your boss. Ask if it would be possible to come in later and make up the time because a good friend has recently passed on. If they don't allow it, then maybe you could explain to the family beforehand that you will be present for the actually service but may have to leave early. Maybe you could arrange a little gathering like a celebration of his life afterwards to make up for it.

  3. sorry about your loss.  Can you talk to the manager? maybe you can exchange shifts with someone, maybe you can have teh day off and make up for it, or maybe you can go in late.

  4. I'm sorry about your friend.

I think you should go to the funeral, you can compensate by working extra hours an other day.

  5. I'm sure since this is at night it is just a viewing, and the funeral will be tomorrow or the next day during the day.  Plan on going to that if you can't swing by tonight on your way to work.

    Sorry for your loss.

  6. Get off work early by saying you'll make up the hour on your next shift, or ship lounch

  7. Is this a wake or the actual funeral service? If its just the wake just wait and go to the funeral. If you are worried about your job, call them and ask them if you could come in at 8pm because your good friend died and you want to be there to say goodbye and to support his family.

  8. Is there a time to be with the family afterward?  If so,you would pay your condolences at that time.  You could also send them a letter with thoughtful memories of your friend.  People understand work schedules, etc...  As long as you are there with them at some point - they will appreciate the gesture.
