I'm 21 and have had an eating disorder since i was 12.

Went from Anorexia to Bulimia to Anorexia (hospitalised 4years) and now it is classified as EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified).

I am 168cm tall and weigh 73kg

I have a variety of other mental health issues aswell...

I am currently seeing a dietician to help me lose weight as I need to lose around 10kg. I have already lost 10kg in the last 6 months.

I need to quit smoking as I am starting University in february next year and a) I won;t be able to afford smokes, and b) my fitness has SERIOUSLY decreased since i started smoking 3 years ago.

I smoke approx 10 smokes a day, which isn't heavy... but its enough to make me puff and pant when exercising, or simply walking up stairs.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? Or can anyone offer advice as to how I can quit smoking within the next 6 months, without hindering my EXTREMELY SLOW weight loss??

  1. There are many ways to go about quitting smoking and many products out there that make it very confusing. The key thing to remember about being addicted to smoking is that is as much or a psychological addiction as it is a physical one. Both of these addictions are very powerful, and once you get over feeling overwhelmed or scared to quit, you can do it.

The nicotine patches and gums are not that great of products. They may help control the physical addiction to nicotine, but they won’t make you mentally able to quit. You need to get yourself some product that can actually help you get the will power and mental ability to kick the nasty habit.
