  1. "A mighty pain to love it is,

    And 'tis a pain that pain to miss;

    But of all pains, the greatest pain

    It is to love, but love in vain." ~ Abraham Cowley

    "An act of love that fails is just as much a part of the divine life as an act of love that succeeds, for love is measured by fullness, not by reception." ~ Harold Lokes

    "Love, unrequited, robs me of my rest:

    Love, hopeless love, my ardent soul encumbers:

    I like the one by Harold Lokes the best.
