1. Some wireless routers automatically give themselves a password, this happened to me with my internet and I had the call the provider.

If you can't talk to them, try some of these common default passwords:

    1. password

    2. asdf

    3. 1234

    4. default

    5. (The name of the company that the router was made by)

If none of those work, try telling the service provider that your router set a "WEP key" that as soon as you set it up. Most providers can look up what it is and tell you.

    hope this helps >.<

  2. Log to it's IP, usually 192.168.x.x. Default password usually admin:admin. And Go to wireless, wireless security. Reset the password from there.

  3. I imagine Virgin are useless because they're not the ones that set the password.

I don't have much experience with MacBooks - ie I've never owned one - but if, for some reason, Apple decided it was a good idea to password-protect the wireless connection feature on OS X, that might be the password you need to type in. If not, it's most likely an encryption key set on the wireless antenna. Either way, it's you or whoever configured the wireless connection that set the password, not Virgin.

  4. I've gotten through using 11111111111 or 0000000000

  5. I can help you out if you tell me the model of your router/modem, if you can tell me that I can go search threw a database to find out the system administrator password for that type of wireless internet

  6. sounds like the wireless network you're trying to connect to is secured. Find an unsecured location like a cafe or something...

    Good luck.

  7. WHAT YOU NEED IS YOUR INTERNET PROTECTED KEY, THAT BLOCKS OTHER PEOPLE FROM GETTING INTO YOUR NETWORK. FOR ME IT'S CALLED A WEP-KEY. TO FIND THIS PASSWORD, LOOK ON YOUR MODEM. (THE THING THAT IS CONNECTED TO YOUR DESKTOP COMPUTER) ON THERE IT SHOULD HAVE A FOUR SET NUMBER. EX. 192.168.1.1 IT MIGHT LOOK DIFFERENT. TYPE THAT IN TO YOUR INTERNET ADDRESS BAR USING THE DEKSTOP. THEN DEPENDING ON YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE PASSWORD FROM THERE. JUST LOOK UNDER A SECURITY TAB, AND FOR A WEP KEY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. GIVE MORE DETAILS NEXT TIME PLEASE.

  8. if you dont know the password you need to reset your modem. you can do this by pressing the reset button which is in the back with a pen or pin. once you do that your wireless network will NOT be encrypted but this also means anyone in the neighbourhood can connect to your network. If you want to set a new password you will need to fin your default gateway. (dont know how to do this on a mac but most use 192.168.1.1). you need to enter these number alone with the periods into the URL (the bar at the top of your browser) when you do this you will get a screen for a username and password( look at the manual for this) then you can change the setting to your liking.

  9. Try typing in user.

  10. If it is asking for a password, it could be one of two things. If your wireless router is secured (i.e. WEP or WPA security or an Airport password), you need to enter the password you set on your router to connect. On the other hand if it is a keychain password it is asking for, this should be the same password as your account on that computer. If neither work, try booting from a CD and run Disk Utility and do a "Repair Permissions".
