Question:

NEED TO RENT IN PARIS: A 1 bedroom modern looking furnished apartment below 750 Euros per month?

I'm a student who's looking for a long term apartment to rent on the 31st August 2008 in Paris. I'm looking for a contemporary/modern, fully furnished, one bedroom apartment that costs 750 Euros or below PER MONTH.

If anyone has better contacts than agencies, and could probably pass this message on in french to others they may know, please let me know.

This is very urgent. Would be a great help if I could find something before I get to Paris. No vacation rentals please.

Thank you!

  1. I'd be shocked if you found a one bedroom at that price, let alone modern and fully furnished!

Contact the CROUS which is student housing help. (I'm not sure whether you are a student in general, or you are going to Paris to study.) Either way, you should be able to find furnished rooms and studio apartments at a much cheaper price than normal rentals. Be prepared also to pay a 'caution' (security deposit) when you sign the lease--can be equivalent to 1-2 months of rent. (I think though at the moment the government has fixed it so that it is only 1 month of rent.) You get this back when you leave the apartment provided there isn't damage.

Furthermore, you're likely to benefit from the CAF (rent help). Depending on your earnings for year - 2 (so 2008-2=> 2006) which would be 0, unless  you were working in France in 2006, you can receive up to 300 euros per month in rent help.

    good luck

don't know if you speak much French, but to help you through the crous site.

go to "vous loger" under Services aux Etudiants, then to Les résidences du Crous

Plusieurs types de logements sont proposés : (what is available)

Description des résidences: you can search under each residence to see what is available and the prices, as well as address, metro/bus locations.

Loyer TTC: is the price per month, hors APL means before social aid, (before receiving the CAF)

  2. good luck

You could probably find a nice studio (one room), furnished, outside of the center for 750 with utilities. Watch out, because most people won't rent anything for less than that.

pap.fr is a good place to look, but most are through agents there (provision)

a good place to look for private apartments is kijiji

You absolutely have to atleast understand some basic french, I would definitely check with the school to see if you can get a place. You might want to look into either a flatshare, or living in the student housing (which is usually nice for foreigners).
