I leave for Cabo San Lucas on Friday and wondering if I should take American dollars with us or if we would be better off getting money while we are down there from our debit card. Does anyone know the exchange rate? Any other tips I should know before I go?

  1. The BEST way is to use your atm card to get pesos out as needed.  You get the best exchange rate this way and get money as needed.

  2. 1 US DOLLAR IS 10.7 PESOS

I would take some pesos with you. it is easy to exchange, but it is good to have some with you.

    bring pepto bismol

bring heavy duty sunscreen 60 for face 30 for body

    only drink bottled water

if you are a smoker, bring your own

there are a lot of people begging and selling in the street..be careful

keep your purse or wallet up front so you can keep an eye on it.

    don't carry a purse

    ....

  3. Take some dollars, get pesos from any ATM. Ten pesos to the dollar exchange varies, some rastaurants give 10 to the dollar, they make money that way. You can get 10.85 to one at a bank. Take your medications with you and scrip, most farmacias can provide you with what you need. Good idea here for Pepto, it was 6USD yesterday. Have a great time. Bien Viaje.

  4. I always use a VISA credit card in Mexico.  The exchange rate 2 weeks ago was 10.64 pesos to the dollar, at a Mexican BANK, and you always exchange at banks because they give the best rate.

Check www.ex.com for all the world's currency exchanges

  5. american dollars are okay in tourstic places, but they will always pay less for your dollars.

Credit cards or debit cards are more convenients, you can take money from almost any ATM, the bank will give you mexican pesos at the current rate at the day.

The exchange rate is on free market; it means it can change daily  (and it does!). At this moment, the american dollar is loosing a little, and mexican peso is gaining price ('cause of petroleum price, the main mexican export, and dollars sent by mexicans working in USA).

The rate this days is between $10.68 and 10.78 pesos per dollar. Since dollars are as any product, the price is different from one place to another (in México and in the stores). But, don't worry; just enjoy your trip. For an easy "translation", remember 11 pesos is (almost) one dollar.

  6. Is about 10 pesos for 1 dollar  ( you can exchange the money on the airport )  take little money with you , travelers checks are the best or  you can use your ATM card as well  if you choose to carry money with you  you can deposit it on the hotel's safe. Have a nice trip !
