i've heard so many things that happen to you when your pergnant

like

The worse the morning sickness, the more likely it is you’re having a girl.

If you raise your arms above your head while pregnant (as when you are hanging up clothes on a clothesline), the baby will get the cord wrapped around its neck

Avoid sleeping on your back or, always sleep on your left side

Avoid spicy foods – they can trigger labor before you’re ready

and a whole bunch of other things

i know this seems stupid but can this really happen?

  1. these things are all old wives tales. they are not true in any sense of it! my morning sickness was bad but i got over it. i eat spicy food all the time and never been in labor yet(its hormones that trigger it), i sleep on my back every night, and that clothesline thing is dumb. the cord may get wrapped around when the baby drops, but even then it doesnt mean it will strangle the baby and cause problems!

...but i do hear that stress causes a baby's personality to be on the bad side because a baby learns how to handle the world through its mother while in utero. stress causes fussiness, a hard time adjusting to the outside world, and a lot of crying...what a pain.

  2. morning sickness some get it some don't  it doesn't mean you are having a boy or a girl.  the clothesline thing that's a myth. once your belly gets big you can't sleep on your back and it's good to sleep on your left side because you have a main vein/artery that goes down your right side to your uterus/placenta. you can eat spicy foods i did through out my whole first pregnancy and I delivered 9 days late. hope this helps

  3. Most of the things you mentioned are probably just old wives tales.. But if you have your doubts, you can ask your doctor. It's normal to be nervous and paranoid when you're pregnant. I ask my friends about it and they all felt the same way when they were pregnant. :)

  4. many of those are just old wives tales.

as for the sleeping thing not on the back is recommended ... but i believe left side is wrong .. it would be right side ... left buttox lifted (same as in CPR to a pregnant woman).

anything can happen during pregnancy though.

you my find that smells/foods you love you can no longer stand and what not.

    for everyone it's different.

my pregnancy i only experienced 2 weeks of morning sickness 3 months in and cravings for ice cubes.

  5. in my experiance morning sickness worse with my daughter, but also my fisr so who knows, raising you hands above your head thing is bullshit, but make sure you tell your partner its true so he will hang all the washing for the next few months. avoid sleeping on your back in late pregnancy bacause the uterus compresses important blood vessels, the left side thing is more bullshit. i eat pepperoni, and jalepenos like they going out of fashion and i arent in labour, i do get hearburn from it tho. and most of the other things like this you heard are more bullshit. think logically about what you read and judge if it makes any sence whatsoever

  6. Not everyone gets morning sickness.  I had bad morning sickness with my son.

Raising your arms does not do anything to the baby.

You can sleep on your back ,it will just be very uncomfortable and you wont want to.  You can sleep on your left or right side.

I'm spanish and eat a lot of spicy foods especially green chile.  Didn't trigger my labor one bit.

Dont believe everything you read.  There are even more ridiculous old wives tales.

  7. Don't read too far into things... just stay healthy, and follow any advice that you're given at your prenatal appointments. Morning sickness doesn't indicate the s*x, and you really have no control over the umbilical cord. It is safe, however, to avoid sleeping or laying flat on your back late in your pregnancy (3rd trimester) as it can cause the uterus to press on the vena cava... which can in turn decrease blood flow to the uterus. I don't think spicey foods can do much but give you heartburn... try not to ready too far into things and get yourself worked up. Be healthy, and your body will take care of the rest. Good luck!

  8. ok well some of those are not true like avoid sleeping on your back or sleeping on your left side the only thing is you can not sleep on your stomach and eating spicy foods thats just stupid you can eat spicy foods just not to much

  9. you should read some good pregnancy books to help answer all your questions. I recommended  the girlfriends guild to pregnancy,

  10. is this a question?

  11. well gender has nothing to do with morning sickness- and all pregnancies are different. some women dont get it, some just get nauseous, some vomit alot, some are sick the entire pregnancy.

you can riase your arms and have no problem

yea you should sleep on your side but laying on your back isnt going to kill the baby

i say avoid spicy foods becuase its going to give you even worse indigestion and heartburn then before not becuase it brings on labor.

  12. No, these things do not happen, I have four kids and eight grand kids.  Best advice I an give you is not to listen to your friends and relatives even though they mean well.  Listen, instead, to your doctor, Douala or midwife

    .Relax, it will be alright

  13. i had really bad morning sickness and im having a boy & the cord thing is an old wives tale but my mom told me it still could happen so try not to stretch too far above your head

  14. they are mostly just old wives tales.

i know they do say not to lay on your back to much because the baby can cut off some of the circulation to your legs but nothing to serious
