Question:

NEWBIE-(I was WARNED!) Dumbest Drive and memory card question?

I am sitting here laughing and laughing (62 yr old female!), while looking at the empty casing of an IBM. I have already put the IBM's two memory cards (same 64k as mine) in my Gateway 56, and took mine out, and/or, if I already (laughing again, sorry!) accidentally put the drive in upside-down, would it make my computer do what it is doing--running really, really slowly?

  1. No they are mounted any which way from factories

  2. No you can stand your harddrive on it's end, it won't matter!

What frequency speed are the two 64K ram memory 'sticks' you put in?

What frequency speed was the one before it? (Or two.) What is the Maximum Total amount of ram that your motherboard will support?

What is the Maximum amount EACH ram slot will support?

64K? Hmmmm! Sounds like your ram is SDR Sdram. Came in various frequency speeds. 66MHz, 100MHz, or 133MHz. (MHz=MegaHertz)

Put 133MHz Sdram in a computer that uses 100MHz Sdram, and it will clock the 133MHz Sdram down to 100MHz 'speed'.

What two computers are we 'talking' about exactly? Gateway 56 does me no good, in trying to look up the system specs, by the way!

(What does the sticker on the back 'say'? Should be right next to the Windows 98 holographic label.)
