  1. It dont matter really what you do but new parents can be very nervy so allowing easy sight for them might make them feel safer.I raised them for a while and move on to larger birds. If mom dont want her chick she will normaly throw her out of the nest.dad shares the care of the new chick so dont move him out.If you notice mom really hurting the chick you might have to hand raise it.But in the times i raised them they have always seemed to  throw them out of the nest if they are not wanted.Never had one out right kill there chick in a pecking way. However remember she is a new mom and her nerves might be on edge so keep the sound down for a week or two and dont fiddle with the baby leave the chick alone and avoid touching it at all cost. good luck

  2. Yes you should turn the light of,

Why?  Because if you don't turn it off it will never learn to be in the dark and you will have too leave it on all night. The mama will look after it in the dark like they do in the wild. The mother is either cleaning the bird of helping the little baby to be prepared , again just like they do in the wild. No, You shouldn't seperate the male as the baby needs to be taken care of with both parents there the mother will make sure the baby is ok and devolping right and the male protects the family. You might be thinking but why are they doing these things if their not in the wild? They do this so the baby will be prepared for anything like if you left the cage open once and it can fly it will probaly fly out and will die if it wasn't prepared.

I hope this answer helped you.

  3. It would be a good idea if you turn the lights off.

Most mammals know  there is night and day.

If you leave the lights on they tend not to sleep.

I know my budgies don't sleep with out a cover over them and they constantly ring bells to draw my attention. they also hold their wings out because they know I clip their wings every year to tame them.

But back to the point i would turn of the lights.

For the reason.. when it grows older it will be terrified of the dark and wont understand.

I would separate any other bird from the little bundle and mother.

Keep them in a separat cage in a warm drafless room with water and seed.

As for the pecking it might just be curious. I wouldn't worry too much about it and anyway there is nothing you can do to prevent it.

Not like you can separate the mother.

do you have an image of the baby budgie?

I would love to see one
