NFL 2012 season schedule released: Peyton Manning and Denver Broncos face Pittsburgh Steelers in week 1
The game schedule for the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season has been released and the fans can look forward to an explosive start as some of the best teams in the league face-off against each other.
A multitude of storylines will be at play in the first week of the season as some of the biggest names in the game will come up against each other.
The season will kick off with a mouth watering clash on Wednesday, September 5 as the Dallas Cowboys take on hated rivals New York Giants at the MetLife Stadium.
After what could turn out to be one of the best games of the season the action will increase even further on Sunday with 11 games to be played and the main event in primetime will be a clash of the titans as Denver Broncos led by their newest addition quarterback,
Peyton Manning will face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Manning’s recovery from multiple neck surgeries and release from the Indianapolis Colts make for a wonderful tale of a legend looking to get back to his best in a new city.
The fans will be fired up for this big game as they hope to watch the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) once again showcase his exceptional talent on the field after a one season hiatus.
For the Steelers one thing will occupy their minds and that is to avenge their 29-23 overtime loss to the Broncos in last season’s wildcard rounds.
Denver then led by quarterback, Tim Tebow pulled off a shocking upset as they won the game in overtime to knock out the Steelers in the playoffs as Tebow connected on an 80-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.
Broncos, vice president of football operations, John Elway cannot wait for the big game where Peyton Manning will take to the field for the first time.
"We're excited about that. Anytime you have a guy behind the centre named Peyton Manning, you're going to get a lot of attention."
Adding further he said.
"Hopefully we can back up the playoff game that we had last year,"
Pittsburgh Steelers president, Art Rooney is intrigued by the prospect of facing Manning in the first game of the season and said.
"The opening game in Denver obviously will be an interesting way to start the season. There will be a lot of attention paid to Peyton Manning's first game with the Denver Broncos, so it'll be exciting to start out that way."
It is going to be one heck of a season and with the kind of explosive start in week 1 the excitement is only going to rise as fans tick down the days.
