NFL BREAKING NEWS: Brett Favre to return to the Minnesota Vikings?
After days of rumours and gossips, Brett Favre, the 11-time Pro Bowler has reportedly decided to stick to the Purple and Gold attire. Favre landed in his private plane in Minnesota this Tuesday amid news reporters following his every move.
NFL fanatics once again left in utter shock, as the 40-year-old quarterback decided to come back to the league. Despite being injured in January last year, losing a game to the New Orleans Saints and declaring that he did not have another season left in him, the determined old man decided to make a comeback once again for a game which he says he adores.
Last year was excellent for the gray-haired quarterback when he threw down 33 touchdowns, taking Minnesota to the NFC title against the New Orleans Saints. He made seven interceptions, however they lost a chance to put the Vikings in the Super Bowl after a gap of 33 years.
Once again, the Vikings have added another true champion to their clear-cut favourite MVP list which includes Jared Allen, Ryan Longwell and Steve Hutchinson. The team was banking on his return as teammate Ryan Longwell said, “We simply went down there to get an answer and after talking for a while, his answer was 'Yes”.
Brett Favre will be playing his 20th NFL season, although he has missed out on all the workouts, the first exhibition and the first week of the training camp. His newly surgically repaired left ankle has led the oldest quarterback the NFL has to offer to get back on his feet and join his team on the field.
Minnesota Vikings fans greeted him with the same enthusiasm they had for him last year, cheering at the top of their lungs. The only difference was that his plane landed in Eden Prairie as against St. Paul’s Downtown Airport last year.
News helicopters hovered around Favre’s car and countless fans raced towards him as he jumped into his SUV along with his wife, Deanna, wearing his favourite Nike cap. Police officers had to direct the heavy traffic jam created due to Favre’s arrival by his fans.
Brett Favre will be turning 41 in the upcoming month and has given a stellar performance throughout his career, with a rating of 86.4 QB Rating by throwing 4,202 yards last season. He has won the Super Champion XXXI and 3 AP NFL MVP consecutively from 1995-1997 respectively.
