NFL Head Coach contract extensions?

I was wandering how you can initiate contract extensions for your players in this game. I'm playing as the Jets and have Favre, Harris and Faneca in their contract years and want to extend their contacts. I have looked in the instructions, but there's nothing there and I haven't been able to find out how to do this yet.

You open negotiations the same way you would if their contract had expired. But you'll have to do that on a day set aside for the "contract renewal" phase. Then just click on a player that's under contract the same way you would with a player who's contract had expired. A message will come up asking if you want to talk to the player's agent. Click yes, and you will be able to renegotiate his contract.
