NFL Highlight: The Chicago Bears Defeat The Minnesota Vikings

The Chicago Bears beat the Minnesota Vikings, 27-13.
Last week, most NFL analysts thought that the Bears were the worst 5-3 football team that they had ever seen. But after Sunday’s victory, they are eating their words, after going up to 6-3 with a win over Minnesota.
It really was a big win for them, going against their division rivals, and emerging victorious.
Their win possibly put the Vikings out of playoff eligibility for the season and definitely out of the running for the crown of their division. With three games in the loss column, they are one loss behind the Bears which means that there are enough deficits
with only seven games to go.
Chicago’s Jay Cutler has been playing up and down all season. Even though he had two interceptions and three TD passes in Sunday’s game, his footwork and skills were better than last week.
But is Cutler in the list of top ten QB’s in the NFL? Definitely not. The thing about Cutler is that his highs are very high, which would make him the best QB in the NFL, but his lows are bad enough to make him the worst. If he had any regular consistency
in his playing, he would surely be one of the better QBs.
In reality, it is hard to tell whether he has really improved. No improvements in the offensive line to form a protective shell around Cutler, keep analysts from evaluating his performance in terms of QB skill.
Finally, the offensive line did come through a bit for the Bears on Sunday, allowing only two sacks in the game, which is actually pretty good for Chicago.
As far as Minnesota goes, Brett Favre threw three interceptions in 18 completions of 31 attempts. The entire dilemma with head coach Brad Childress will most likely make headlines this week. The players didn’t like him when they were winning, which means
that they certainly won’t like him when they’re losing. Analysts believe that Childress’ head coaching job is coming to an end in Minnesota.
The Vikings will be at home in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, with the Bears in Miami against the Dolphins on Thursday.
With the Bears up 7-3 with 3:26 left in the second, Favre found Percy Harvin open, who went for a 53 yard TD which put them up 10-7.
Less than two minutes later, Cutler passed to Devin Hester, who did the rest, running to the end zone from the 19 yard line.
Then, with 8:39 left in the fourth, Cutler passed to Kellen Davis, who extended the Bears’ lead 27-13, and ended the game that way.
Following their loss, Childress spoke about their loss in a press conference saying, “You deal with it. It’s not something you’re happy to deal with but you deal with what’s out there. My name is behind the Vikings team and it all starts with me.” With Childress
coaching, the Vikings have lost nine straight games on the road, including playoff games.
Well, at least he’s taking responsibility for his coaching, even if no one likes him. But he was not the only one, with Favre stating, “The last thing I’m going to do is make excuses. I have prepared and played as hard as I can possibly play. Nothing was
guaranteed when I came in…It was just disappointing.”
He supported his team calling them “a good group of guys.” But would the rest of his team refer to him as the same? He has had 19 interceptions this season, mostly due to his ankle injuries and has lost four of the last five games he has started.
Although Minnesota is done for the division title, they may still have a chance for the playoffs if they get a good coach soon, who is able to turn their losing streak around.
The Bears lead the NFC North with the Green Bay Packers, winning two of their last games to make them 6-3. The Vikings are third in the NFC North at 3-6, behind the Bears and Packers, but ahead of the Detroit Lions.
