NFL: New York Jets’ Kris Jenkins has become the Cookie Monster
How does one get lean, healthy and strong in the game of football?
Well, Kris Jenkins of New York Jets has the answer!
Eat cookies and enjoy the yummy foods all day long and you can tuck your tummy in days. This isn’t any type of gimmick but that is actually a real technique which is discovered by Kris Jenkins, who dropped more than 20 pounds as a result of eating cookies, Oatmeal raisin, and chocolate.
It is the story of New York Jets’ hefty nose tackle Kris Jenkins, who had weight issues throughout his career. Jenkins was 6.4 feet high and 390 pounds heavy earlier this year, which was more than the normal NFL player’s weight.
He has been on a cookie diet since before the start of their training camp. The New York Jets had been facing the problem of overweight players for quite long. In addition to Jenkins, his teammate Damien Woody also had difficulties due to his weight. More surprisingly, the head-coach of Jets, Rex Ryan, also joined the team-players in the weight competition.
Not very long ago, the three of them came up with the idea of losing some weight and getting quicker in the game. They involved themselves in a sort of weight-loss competition and set a condition that whoever will lose more weight before the start of training camp will be the winner. Whereas the losers will pay for their sluggishness and they will have to donate money to the charity of the winner’s choice.
However, Jenkins was even more concerned about losing weight. He made various statements at different times showing his interest to lose some pounds. Once he quoted that: “I couldn’t run or do anything, and that’s hardest time I have personally to lose weight, whenever I can’t be dynamic, I suffer. Honestly, I have had weight issues my whole career. It just got to the point where I got fed up.”
The challenge made four-time Jets’ defensive tackle, Jenkins, fly to Miami and meet the celebrity weight loss expert, Dr. Sanford Siegal.
Dr. Siegal proposed to him the Cookie Diet, which has been considered effective since 1975. Jenkins weighed around 390 pounds when they started the contest, but soon he managed to shed more around 22 pounds and now he weighs 368, which is a clear indication that he will surely get the winner’s crown.
According to Jenkins, the cookies are just like muffin tops. The cookies contain 90 calories each and have 2-1/2 grams of fat. In addition, the ingredients of milk soy, wheat flour, crunchy rice and non-vegetable protein are also included in the diet plan. Jenkins is enjoying the weight-loss program, and is happy about the fact that he has started losing weight. He has become a true ‘cookie monster’ these days.
Dr. Siegal said that the cookies are only appetite suppressants that make a person feel that he doesn’t have to eat a lot, which, in turn, results in weight loss.
Jenkins is happy about his progress so far. He said that he doesn’t know where the other two contestants stand right now, but he will most certainly win the competition. Jenkins aims to attain 350 pounds by the end of training camp in the next month. Jenkins is turning 31 next week, and he recently told the New York Times about his plan in the running season.
He also said that he thought about retirement in the offseason when he was down with left-knee injury, but after discussing the matter with his wife, Tashia, and head coach, Jenkins decided to stay in the game.
The cookie plan is working perfectly for Jenkins and if he is able to shed more pounds, he will blaze the course for other players who suffer from the same problem.
