NFL News, Steelers James Harrison says that Ravens Chris Chester targeted him
After being fined four times for $125,000, it is understandable that Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison would be upset.
But now, he is saying that an opposing player should be disciplined for going after him.
Harrison believes that Chris Chester, a guard for the Baltimore Ravens, emphatically went after him while being called for a false-start penalty during an extra point attempt on Sunday during their game.
Chester came off of the line of scrimmage and charged at Harrison, which is a rather unusual blocking technique, since most offensive lineman try to remain close to avoid a potential blocked kick.
The three time Pro Bowler says that it was a perfect time to attack him because the penalty draws only five yards. He says that he thinks that Chester was trying to hurt him.
"It was uncalled for and cheap", Harrison said Thursday.
During the Ravens’ only touchdown, Harrison says that he did hit Chester on a play during the touchdown drive, but it was a legal hit.
James Farrior, a linebacker for the Steelers, says that Chester’s block was dirty.
"That was pretty dirty", Farrior said. "I think it was definitely planned and just one of the dirty things that they did in the game. But he [Harrison] was a smart guy. He didn't retaliate, and that's what I think they wanted him to do to get him out of
the game. But he held it down pretty good".
Harrison really doesn’t hide any of his feelings, and it is widely known that he is upset and displeased after paying $125,000 fines for illegal hits on Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young, New Orleans Saints
quarterback Drew Brees, and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi.
"It was a very emotional game, and he's certainly an emotional guy", Farrior said. "So, I definitely was pleased with the way he responded. I definitely think I saw a little bit of growth in James with how he dealt with that situation. It was the right thing
for him not to retaliate".
The Steelers will play against the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday at Heinz Field. The Bengals almost defeated the Steelers last month, even though they have lost their last nine games in a row.
"Whether they're 10-2 or 2-10, they're going to come out swinging this week", defensive end Ziggy Hood said. "I'm sure of that. We feel like some of these teams that we play the rest of the season, even though they might not have good records -- Cincinnati,
Carolina and Cleveland -- this is the NFL. They're all good teams with an opportunity to make their season by beating the Steelers. So it's our job to not let that happen".
