NFL News: Cowboys’ Tony Romo Still Unsure Of Return After Injury

Just over six weeks ago, Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Tony Romo broke his left collarbone in a loss to the New York Giants.
The injury was initially said to have Romo out for six to eight weeks, with a second x-ray near the end of November showing that the bone was healing.
Romo is practicing, but after the Cowboys overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday said that he is still uncomfortable with his injury. He cannot lie on his left shoulder and can’t drive the ball during practices.
He is not sure when he will be back to playing in games with the Cowboys, who have a 303 record without him.
"That's not up to me, that's up to other people," Romo said. "The debate is for me to get healthy and play football, that's what I do. At the end of the day, a couple of things in life you try and do and one of them for me is obviously playing football,
If I could play football. You're always wanting to come back."
The most difficult thing for Romo to do is waiting. While the rest of the team practices, Romo is in the weight room for rehabilitation and therapy. Romo watches from the sidelines as his team, with backup QB Jon Kitna, try their hardest to win, but fail
to do so half of the time.
"It's been hard," said tight end Jason Witten, who is a close friend of Romo's. "He's handled it really well. He lives for Sundays, that's one of his greatest traits. He's so competitive. I know it's hard. I've been impressed day in and day out, but he has
a game plan for this season."
What is his game plan exactly? Same as every other injured player in any sport. Get well soon. But Romo cannot force himself to get healthy, and instead has to do the hardest thing possible for mankind: wait.
Team owner Jerry Jones and interim head coach Jason Garrett have not said anything about whether Romo will be back this season or not, and are instead waiting for reports on his progress before deciding.
Jones said that he visits Romo before games, and said that his health was good before the game against Indianapolis.
"He's having to look to the future," Jones said.
Romo had nothing to say about Wade Philips’ firing, but does like the changes that Garrett has made at Valley Ranch. Under Garrett, the Cowboys now have digital clocks outside of the locker room, a new dress code, are required to wear full pads on Wednesday
practices, and increased practice intensity.
The injured quarterback likes Philips on a personal level, but acknowledges the changes under Garrett.
"We're in a bottom-line business," Romo said. "Playing this game it's obviously enjoyable, [and] fun for people like me and [Garrett] and stuff because we like to compete. But it's winning and losing that matters and from that prospective, I think nobody
can argue that [Garrett has] done a good job."
