NFL News: Pat Bowlen still unsure about Josh McDaniels
Pat Bowlen, owner of the Denver Broncos, articulated that coach Josh McDaniels’ job is safe for now. However onliy time will tell about the final outcome of the coach. Bowlen made his thoughts clear, to AOL Fan-House that Mcdaniels is surely coming back for the next season. However, on Monday, things seemed a little vague as he articulated,
"Josh McDaniels is the head coach of the Broncos and you always strive for stability at that position. we will continue to monitor the progress of the team and evaluate what's in the best interest of this franchise. I'm not interested in making a coaching change, even with the team's 5-16 record this season and a discomforting videotaping scandal to boot. It's not, you know, not my decision, not something that's in my control. I'm just going to worry about what I can focus on and try to control the things that I can control."
McDaniels is coaching the Broncos for his second year now, and is trying to bring the Broncos, back to the great team that they are. If they lose any of their next six games, they are eliminated from the play-offs. On top of that, he was part of a videotaping scandal, dubbed Spygate II that cost him and the team a total of $100,000.This led to the firing of Steve Scarneccia, who filmed six minutes of San Francisco 49ers’ practice, last month in London.
Bowlen insisted that McDaniels had nothing to do with the videotape,
"Josh had nothing to do with that. The former employee did it, on his own. There was no direction from the head coach. Josh did not order it. We're absolutely positive this was done by the former employee, on his own.”
However, he acknowledged the fact that McDaniels, did not inform the league or his superiors about Scarneccia’s insubordination. Thus, both him and the Broncos team were charged $50,000 each.
Bowlen stated,
”I am very happy with Josh. Josh is doing a good job, and is determined the Broncos could still get to the play-offs.”
