NFL Power Rankings Week 10 (Part 2)
This is a continuation of the previous article, discussing the NFL Power Rankings as of Week 10.
In the number 23 slot rest the Minnesota Vikings, who are quite glad to have moved up 4 slots from last week. Mainly thanks to Brett Favre, the team’s head coach kept his job, for another week at least. Wide receiver Sidney Rice will hopefully be back in
a few weeks, and give the Vikings a chance to improve their passing game. With a 3-5 record, hope is basically all they can do.
At number 22 are the Cleveland Browns, who move up 2 spots from last week. Many fans have been ecstatic about Colt McCoy, but when you look at it realistically, he’s made only 23 passing attempts in the team’s last two wins in a row. It’s better to let him
play for a bit longer to see what he can do, and then fans can be excited all they want.
The Washington Redskins moved down 3 spots to rank at number 21 this week, with a 4-4 record. Nobody knows if benching Donovan McNabb will be an issue in their upcoming game against McNabb’s ex team, and division rivals, the Eagles. However, due to his benching
late in the game against the Lions, it is probable that most of his time with the Redskins will be spent on the bench.
Still at number 20 from last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars have the same issues as many other teams in the lower rankings of the NFL. However, before their bye week, the Jaguars veteran QB, David Garrard, is still playing well. They may have a chance if
they take advantage of the Wild Card spot.
The Miami Dolphins moved down four this week to end up at number 19 on the Power Ranking. They have problem with both defense and offense, with inconsistency in offence, and failing to block big plays when it comes to defense. Inadequate talent in key positions
will keep the Dolphins from the playoff, with their 4-4 record.
The San Diego Chargers are at number 18 this week, moving up 4 from last week, thanks to QB Philip Rivers. No QB is playing better in the NFL at the moment, and Rivers plays great, whether he has to throw long or short. They have a 4-5 record this week.
The Oakland Raiders deserve a round of applause after never giving up in their comeback victory last week over the Chiefs. They moved up 4 to number 17, thanks to running back Darren McFadden, who is playing well enough that many people are pushing the head
coach to allow him to start, after now being 5-4.
The St. Louis Rams were at number 16 before their bye week, and are still there today. They have a favorable schedule, which may allow them to emerge as the top team in the NFC West, but they need to rely more of Steven Jackson, their long time running back,
since they lack talent as far as receivers go. Their record as of now is 4-4.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are showing their faces from the number 15 spot this week, after falling 3 places, mostly due to the team just not being up to standard. Their defense is one of the worst in the NFL at the moment, but is still one of the most improved
teams, compared to last season. Their record is currently 5-3.
The Houston Texans seem to just be falling down, this week at number 14, as compared to number 11 last week. Their passing game is far worse than it was earlier, along with their defense not being able to stop anyone. The defense is the reason why they have
never, and probably won’t, make it to the playoffs.
The remaining teams’ Power Rankings will discussed in the next articles.
