Question:

NFL Records and Greatness?

Why do so many fans think that records are what make players the greatest ever? Guys like John Elway and Joe Montana aren't number 1 or 2 on alot of records but yet most people and experts would consider Elway and Montana 1 and 2 on the best QBs of all time. When it came to big games Montana won the big ones. Elway carried bad teams that had no reason to be in the Super Bowl all the way even if they lost and he still won 2 and went to 5 in 16 seasons. But yet I hear people say look at the record books and that is what will show you who is the greatest.

  1. i agree. i think that a quarterback like farve is overrated cause of his records and c**p. hes only won ONE superbowl! Hes a hall of famer, but definetly not the best of all time. Like you said, elway and montana were better, and i think brady is better than him too.

  2. John Elway and Joe Montana were at the top of the records at one point but they arent now because they were broken. I would still say that records do make a player greater but what really makes a player great is the way he plays the game.

  3. favre is not overrated because he was alway a great production quarterback and he has won the most games
