NFL Scouting Combine: Seattle Seahawks want to get their questions answered – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks want to squeeze every possible gain out of the National Football League (NFL) Scouting Combine where different college athletes will display their strength.
Seahawks have a 12th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Drafts and it is expected that the management will focus more on improving its defensive unit.
The combine will be held at the Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis. The venue also hosted the Super Bowl XLVI matchup between New York Giants and New England Patriots earlier this month.
Seahawks general manager, John Schneider, and head coach, Pete Carroll, are both present in the city along with their staff.
Schneider and his scouts are already in the phase of evaluating different talents, which could land at Seattle for the next NFL season.
The Seahawks finished the last season after winning seven games and losing nine. They ended up at third spot in the National Football Conference (NFC) West division and could not qualify for the playoffs.
Seahawks desperately need to hire new talent for which the evaluation of different players has already been started.
From the past two or three weeks, the general manager and his scouts have been busy meeting several other scouts and gathering all the possible information on different players.
During the combine, each NFL team is allowed to interview a particular number of players with each discussion extending for as long as 15 minutes.
Schneider is of the view that the combine will provide him a good platform to meet and interview the players so as to get to know their personality.
While discussing his plans for the combine, Schneider said:
“Our primary goal at the Combine is to get as many questions answered as possible from the meetings we’ve just had for the past 17 days.”
He added:
“That includes psychology questions, scheme-fit questions, medical questions, any background questions, any character questions.”
On the other hand, Carroll thinks that the combine will present a good platform where coaches can have one-on-one meetings and discussions with different players.
He also said that he has targeted a few players and his staff will be monitoring them closely during the combine.
He said:
“We’ve given the coaches some players to start evaluating that they’re going to be interviewing at the combine. Because for them, they’re just starting to get to know the guys and it’s their first exposure to the players the scouts have been looking at.”
Both the manager and the coach have not yet spilled the beans and the observers are still guessing what the team management will do with its draft pick.
