NFL Special Report: New Technology hits the New Meadowlands Stadium
NFL is at the verge entering into its 91st season in September and there is a lot of hustle and bustle among various groups these days. The management, the associated staff, the stadium officials, all seem pretty much busy in arrangements. The stadiums are being renovated and heavy amounts are being spent to improve the stadium technology. The administration is keen to set up the gadget which will attract the most number of football spectators. Every possible effort is being put to gain attention of people in today’s challenging climate.
In the recent years, the NFL’s exposure through television has been increased immensely which forced the stadium administration to jump into the race and respond the fans with their own technology plays.
Following the same sport spirit, the New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey, USA, has mounted big screens in the arena for the fans. The football lovers are bound to love the bigger screens with high-quality surround sound system for an increased impact this season.
Likewise, the Cowboys Stadium introduced the twin video boards in the field last year and it was a very successful experience. They suspended huge video boards over the ground which provided the fans an excellent opportunity to enjoy the live performance in the field and also on the big screen.
Initially the Meadowlands stadium has set up four screens which are relatively smaller than the Cowboys Stadium screens but the stadium officials are very optimistic that they will create a better impact than the Cowboys.
In addition, the New Meadowlands Stadium has also launched free smart-phone applications for the fans. It is definitely very exciting as it will enable the fans to see the video replays, the on-going statistics of players and also live videos from other games but the facility will only be available inside the venue.
The reason for the launch of smart-phone application does make sense in the present scenario. With the advent of new technological revolutions, it has become very hard to provoke the fans to come to the venue. The cruising fast moves of NFL players have become more life-like on high-definition (HD) televisions and most people enjoy watching the game at their homes.
Besides the smart-phone application, 2,200 television sets with 48’000 square feet of screens have also been set up in and around the stadium in order to entertain those fans who do not carry a smart-phone.
At this time, it is associated a lot of un-certainty and suspense that how this smart-phone application will change the fans’ approach to enjoy the matches and fans have a mixed feeling about the new set-up. Jeff Laible, a local resident of Manhattan who is a football and baseball fan, expressed that he attended a game in the Giants Stadium but didn’t like the idea of constant blabbering in the ears about stats and information.
However, 32-year old Matthew Stone had a different opinion and called it a great idea. He said that it will make very easy for the fans to get updated about the injuries or fights on the field. Moreover, the soft-ware application will be a great help if somebody missed a thing in the game even being seated in the stadium. Matthew wished to be on the front of television during the matches.
New Meadowlands stadium is not the only one but actually, other National Football League stadiums have already been in the game. So far, the stadium officials have received a lukewarm response from the fans but it will really make a big difference as the season practically starts. The Meadowlands management has spent around 100 million dollars for the improvement of the stadium and they are hopeful to get a good turnout this season.
