NFL Update: NFC West Player Performance Partition (Part 1)

There are a couple of people in the NFC West who are just going down and some who are on the other end of the spectrum and are getting better as time goes by. First, we will take a look at the ones who are just having problems that result in either their
performance declining or their public image being ruined.
On the top of the list we have Derek Anderson. Now what could have the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals have done? First of all, the Cardinals have lost their last six games. And aside from that, during their last game Anderson was on the big
screen doing the unthinkable. Now, why would the starting QB be laughing when his team is being crushed, down by 16 points near the end of the game? Well, Anderson was caught laughing on the sidelines near the end of the game, but that isn’t nearly as bad
as his reaction.
When asked why he was laughing and what was so funny during a press conference, Anderson got a little too worked up. With his eyes bulging out of his head like a frog being stepped on, Anderson let loose.
“You think I was laughing about something?” Anderson said, his voice getting louder with nearly every word. “I take this serious! Real serious! I put my heart and soul into this every single week!”
Readers should know that the explicit word used occasionally throughout Anderson’s rant have been removed to make the content more family friendly.
Remind me not to cut this guy off in traffic…
Next up we have, not a player, but the head coach for the Seattle Seahawks. Now, Pete Carroll does not seem to be doing too good of a job in coaching. Carroll’s philosophy is “always compete.” But his players don’t seem to take it to heart. The Seahawks
actually surrendered to the Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, surrendered. They knelt when they were down 18 points just to run out the clock.
Aside from basically giving up, the Seahawks just don’t seem to have the same heart that they did when they went to the Super Bowl. Before now, they have changed almost their entire roster and still haven’t lost successive home games by a total of 52 points.
Yes, 52 points! They lost to the New York Giants, 41-7, and also to the Chiefs, 42-24. The only other team in the NFL that has an even worse record is the Carolina Panthers. They have lost two consecutive home games by a total of 65 points. Since
their home field, Qwest Field, has opened, Seattle has lost only once by more than 40 points. Will Carroll go through the heartache that Brad Childress and Wade Phillips went through in leaving their team?
Last but certainly not least, we have another head coach on the list of people going down in the NFC West. And this is Mr. Ken Whisenhunt’s turn under fire. The Cardinals’ head coach’s public image would be going down. And all because they lose at home.
By double digits. And to below-average teams? Come on, Ken, don’t you know that these are the same Cardinals that were 10-6 last season and were number one in their division? So far this season, their record stands at 3-8. The Seahawks and San Francisco Giants
have crushed Arizona by a collaborated 39 points, and even those were at home. Aside from losing their last six games, four of those were from teams that actually have worse records than they do. Will Whisenhunt be able to turn the birds around? Well, if he
could, he most certainly would have done it by now.
Players whose performances are getting better as the season comes to an end are discussed in the next article. Take a look!
