NFL Update: Philadelphia Eagles with the young guns
The recent additions of young and exciting players in the Philadelphia bench make it a veteran free bench. In fact, you would be surprised if you see even one veteran in the list of Philadelphian players. Therefore, for some it marks the start of a new era and for some it might be the end. This provides Philadelphia with, young, energetic and talented group of players. This young unit hungry for glory will surely give others a tough time in running for the Super Bowl.
Legends of not only Philadelphia, but also of baseball were given a farewell and some players leaving the centre stage like Brain Dawkins came as a shock for many. However, today Philadelphia has rebuilt and a more competitive unit and one that is surely destined to reach the top. We shall assess the new team along with the abilities they possess going into the next season improving the on last season’s performances.
The Brand new wings that Philadelphia has got in the form of DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant add to their diversity and depth of the squad. The three, not only control the main play of the team but also combined during the last season for an impressive 25,000 yards. The speed and delicate yet strong catches they made edged them out over the others. Furthermore, they had scored almost 60% of the Philadelphia’s touchdowns with the speed they offer on the wings. At this rate, they can take Philadelphia to new heights considering the fact that they are still young and have many more years in their hands.
A great player of the Eagles, Brain Westbrook departed from the Eagles leaving them in a spot of bother. As no one in the squad at the time possessed the capabilities of playing the pivotal role that he did. As this is the nature of the game, that if one player leaves, another one arrives. The arrival of a player is partly the team’s financial backing that it can provide and a little bit of luck too. Sometimes a best player coming into a team doesn’t pay off that well and sometimes a low profile player develops into a legend.
2008 saw LeSean McCoy arrive in Philadelphia. He combined a total of 1000 yards and completed a good rookie season. This young gun is expected to be more successful this season offering the Eagles his young and fresh legs that would be one of the weapons that can fire and change the outcome the match. This player is surely to develop into a superstar and maybe even the leader at some stage.
The 2009 draft pick brought Nate Allen, who the Philadelphia Eagles selected. The season provided us with numerous moments on which the Eagles defence was broken. The points allowed to the team, saw Eagles finish the season ranking 19th. However, the additions of players like Brandon Graham and Trevor Lindley gives them a stronger defensive line, one that would strong and difficult to break.
When the Philadelphia drafted Kevin Kolb into their squad, they got a lot of criticism in doing so. Rumours of him leaving flew from every part of Philadelphia. Nevertheless, as time shows, it also silenced many that this draft pick was one the best and one that would shine for sure.
This player is already a superstar and won the hearts of many Philadelphia fans over the last season. Another youngster of the Eagle’s, he had two superb starts in 2009. This youngster with his leading capabilities has been handed the responsibility to lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl this season. Shoulders of this player are loading with responsibility and expectancy now and he is backed by a strong squad.
Kevin given these responsibilities would surely benefit from them and develop from a good player into a superstar and then who knows a legend. His skills and his target provided to him now, to win the prize, would surely cement his place as one of the top quarterbacks of the season and be threat for many.
