NFL Update: Washington Redskins embarrassed by Philadelphia Eagles 59-28

Monday night football has never seen a spectacle like that. The Philadelphia Eagles bullied a win out of Washington Redskins. There was no mercy on the field for Washington. Fifty nine points' beating against twenty eight for Washington.
Eagles were in a hurry. From the start they made Washington look helpless and I do mean from the start. First play of the game was an 88 yard touchdown. Redskins were left baffled. There simply can’t be a better start to the game.
Vick was covered by the offensive line until DeSean Jackson was open. Jackson is one of the fastest players in the league. Saftery LaRon Landry was onto Jackson but he was just not fast enough. The offensive line covered Vick’s blindside while Jackson left
Landry behind. Vick backed up behind his offensive line and threw the ball from Philadelphia’s 4 yard line up the centre of the field to Washington’s 35 yard line where Jackson stretched out his arms to catch the ball, almost tumbling over as he did. Landry
tried to stop Jackson but was unable to keep his balance. With Landry out of the pursuit, Jackson walked the final yards into the end zone.
The crowd was fired up, the Eagles were ecstatic and the game had only just barely begun. Washington had the wind knocked out of them with that 88 yard touchdown and the psychological effect of it trickled down on both the offense and the defence. After
the touchdown, when the Redskins came on the field they could manage just 8 yards in three down. Running back Keiland Williams made all three plays. By the fourth play, Washington got into punt formation.
The 44 yard kick from the 28 yard line was returned for 9 yards and put the Eagles on the 37 yard line. Vick started off Philadelphia’s second drive of the game with a 15 yards pass to Jason Avant which was followed up by 11 and 3 yard rushes by Jeremy Maclin
and LeSean McCoy.
On Second and 7, Michael Vick threw another amazing pass. DeSean Jackson’s 88 yard touchdown had made him the prime target of Washington’s defence. With attention focused on him, McCoy has no trouble receiving a 27 yard pass from Vick. McCoy was pushed out
of bounds well inside the red zone on Washington’s 7 yard line. On the 7 yard line, Vick waited for a receiver while the offensive line held the Redskins at bay. Finding no one, Vick ran with the ball himself as Washington’s defensive end Kedric Golston eventually
fought his way through to Vick.
Vick ran to his right with Golston chasing him, linebacker Lorenzo Alexander in front of him and defensive end Adam Carriker coming at him from his left. He slipped through them all and found cornerback DeAngelo Hall trying to cut him off from the right.
Vick dived and slipped into the end zone below Hall for touchdown. The Eagles had already created a 14 point lead over Washington in less than 5 minutes of play.
Washington returned a 74 yards kick for 30 yards to start on the 26 yard line. Their offence however wouldn’t get far. Quarterback Donovan McNabb threw two passes for 6 yards before throwing an interception. The pass was intended for Santana Moss but Kurt
Coleman intercepted and carried it 7 yards before Moss could bring him down.
The touchdown happy Eagles scored a touchdown off the turnover. Philadelphia started on Washington’s 37 yard line and with short but consistent gains, they moved up to the 11 yard line where Vick threw the touchdown pass to LeSean McCoy.
Washington were again denied by the Eagles’ defence. They started on the 23 yard line and were stopped 3 yards short of the yellow line in three downs. 3 minutes still remained in the quarter that had so far proved to be a nightmare, far from over, for the
Redskins. After taking back possession on the 23 yard line, Vick threw back-to-back 12 and 15 yard passes to get to the centre of the field. Jerome Harrison finished off the drive with a phenomenal 50 yard dash for Philadelphia’s 4th touchdown of
the game.
By the end of first quarter, Eagles had amassed a 28 points lead over Washington. In 4 drives, the Redskins managed just 23 yards and did not get anywhere near the end zone.
