NFL boss Roger Goodell wants meeting with Cleveland Browns LB Scott Fujita in person – NFL News
Cleveland Browns veteran linebacker Scott Fujita is confident about meeting with National Football League (NFL) commissioner Roger Goodell in near future to discuss the latest developments around the infamous bounty scandal.
Scott had arranged a video meeting with the professional league regulator’s boss on Tuesday but he said he had been informed by the office via an email message on Monday evening that the commissioner wanted the prospective meeting in person, not through
the video link.
According to the linebacker his knee situation does not permit him to travel to New York for the potential meeting. Fujita is recovering from a knee surgery and although he participated in the past weekend’s game, he did not look hundred percent.
He nevertheless was least likely to travel for the meeting as the message had come probably too late and given his situation it was difficult for him to attend the meeting anyway.
Now the player says he will figure out how and when he can meet the commissioner in person and expects to confirm the schedule with the commissioner’s office soon.
Fujita is one of the players who have been suspended over alleged financial contribution to the covert reward-for-hit-programme, though he has denied his involvement throughout and said to be fighting to clear his name.
Lucky for the suspended crop that the court of law has overturned the league’s ruling suspending Fujita for three games and others, and now the player is free to participate in the league’s season. After missing the season opener he played the second game.
Following lifting of the suspension, the commissioner has planned meetings with all players. Although the office has not outlined purpose or agenda of the meetings they are expected to completely focus the scandal and most probably players’ future.
It is pertinent to mention that the bounty scandal has hit the professional league for quite a few months now and to an extent bringing a bad image to the reputation of players like Fujita over their alleged involvement in the covert reward-for-hit programme
that was in implementation during the his New Orleans Saints’ tenure.
