NFL commissioner Roger Goodell praises fans over success of Super Bowl game – NFL News
The National Football League (NFL) has credited the Indianapolis for successful hosting of the NFL championship game, Super Bowl, and praised local fans for their enthusiasms they had shown in the final game.
It was for the first time that the city of Indianapolis has hosted a mega event of the Super Bowl stature and the football community has apparently been impressed with their hosting credentials.
The NFL championship was the only reason to celebrate for the Indianapolis this year, in absence of their team from the scene.
Indianapolis Colts’ performance in the 2011 NFL regular season was worst of their entire history as the team could manage only two wins as compared to massive 14 losses, including the losing streak of 13 games.
The local fans also missed their star, Colts’ quarterback, Peyton Manning, who could not play for his side for the entire past season due to his neck injury and despite being present at the stadium during the final game, was unable to impress his followers
through his game skills.
Amid all the disappointment, the fans had the championship to cheer about and they seem to be well ready to capitalise on the opportunity.
This was something noted by NFL’s commissioner, Roger Goodell, at many occasions. During his press conference before the game he had expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements, which were made by the local administration and communities.
He had praised the readiness of the Indianapolis to play host to the supreme event of the American professional league and the level of hospitality they showed to their visitors during the week leading to the main game.
NFL boss also praised the local administration for having made all the facilities available to the guests and other arrangements, which were readily in place before and just after the game.
In a letter to football fans and especially to the Indianapolis he praised their level of interest and maturity they has shown in the speculator display of the game at the ground as well as at public places.
He thanked the fans for their support throughout the league season and particularly during the second phase leading upto the Super Bowl event.
He said it was their support that has made the event most successful and the league values their contribution toward promotion and development of the game of the American football in the country, in addition to its projection well over.
An estimated 111.3 million watched the Super Bowl game and the commissioner said it was huge number to turn up and tune up for the game, which shows the level of popularity of the game in and outside the United States.
He hoped that the league will bank on their support in the future as well and look to improve to be more entertaining and interesting for the game followers.
