NFL fines $15K to Broncos' Von Miller, confirms $40K fine to Steelers’ Ryan Clark – NFL News
The National Football League (NFL) has fined the Denver Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller for hitting the Raiders passer.
Information gathered online indicated that the Broncos rookie had hit the Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer in the chest with his helmet.
The NFL office said that he had fined for roughing up the passer. The amount of the fine was disclosed at $15000.
Miller has become another player to have received the penalty for individual and personal foul.
The NFL office meanwhile has confirmed that the Steelers safety Ryan Clark had fine $40K for his foul in the match against Baltimore last week. He had come into helmet to helmet contact with ED Dickson of Baltimore.
Clark apparently is not happy with slapping of the fine on him by the National Football League (NFL) management, and has questioned the legality of the move. Meanwhile his agent said that his client will appeal against the fine.
The incident occurred in the Sunday night's game between the two teams. Clark hit Dickson in the first half of the event and was immediately flagged. Both players’ helmets got into contact when the Steelers safety Clark tried to
tackle Dickson in a stride. He was later on fined by the NFL officials.
However, Clark has criticized the imposing of fine by the NFL, saying there was nothing intentional or malicious about what had happened. He said that he had been informed about the fine by his coach Mike Tomlin, and showed a complete
disappointment and disapproval it.
“It wasn't a spear. It wasn't a forearm to the head. It wasn't any of those things and to be fined $40,000 for that? To me it's either targeting me as a single player or it's targeting this team, “he said.
This is 13 times in total in the current seasons that Steelers have been fined. They have been slapped a plenty of $182,000 in total. In this the Clark's $40K is the highest and latest. Including his $15K he had been fined earlier,
the figures reaches $55,000 imposed on him.
Clark had already been fined $15000 for hit to New England's tight end Rob GronKowski about a couple of weeks ago. He however said this was not right this time and he was being made to pay the $40k in fine unnecessarily.
"I was actually expecting to get a call back and say that it wasn't wrong, because it wasn't," Clark said. "I did everything I was asked to do and Goodell and all those other guys, they sit in their office with their suits and
make these decisions on what a split-second reaction by the player is and this time it's wrong."
Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has also been fined in the same game. He was penalized for his helmet to helmet contact with Steelers' receiver Hines Ward. The amount of the fine has not been disclosed, however,
information gathered online has indicated a sum of $20,000 was slapped in the fine.
